We are delighted to announce that KodlContemporary will participate in NADA Miami 2026, presenting a dialogue between Matyáš Maláč and Philip Hinge.

Bringing together two distinctive approaches to contemporary painting, the presentation explores the space between abstraction and figuration, inner experience and external reality. While Maláč’s layered paintings draw on digital aesthetics, organic structures, and intuitive gestures to evoke unstable psychological and technological landscapes, Hinge approaches the figure through intimate, symbolic, and emotionally charged scenes.

Despite their different visual languages, both artists share an interest in transformation, subjectivity, and the ways contemporary experience shapes our understanding of the self. Their works create a dialogue between dissolution and embodiment, chaos and structure, vulnerability and abstraction.

We are looking forward to presenting their work in Miami this December.

KodlContemporary presents you Le Chat Noir with Julie Bena and Mark Ther as a part of Prague Art Week 2026!

For five days only, Le Chat Noir takes over the historic interiors of Parnas, bringing together Julie Béna and Mark Ther for the first time.

Conceived specifically for Parnas, the exhibition is a rare opportunity to enter a space that has played a distinctive role in Prague’s cultural history. Drawing, glass, painting, installation and performance unfold throughout its interiors, with both artists developing new works for the occasion.

Julie Béna presents new glass objects created in collaboration with jewellery artist Magdalena Šťastníková and Lasvit, alongside further new works and performance. Mark Ther introduces a new series of large-scale paintings made for the exhibition.

Parnas itself is central to the project. Once connected to Prague’s bohemian circles and later to its cinematic, jazz and underground scenes, the venue carries traces of different periods of the city’s cultural life. Le Chat Noir works directly with this history, placing new works within a setting that is rarely encountered as an exhibition space.

Open only during Prague Art Week, 23–27 September, the exhibition offers a unique chance to experience Parnas through the work of two artists whose practices have long engaged with performance, fiction, identity and the construction of characters.

Fallen Angel by Carolein Smit

This ceramic stoneware sculpture depicts Lucifer, the “fallen angel,” while also referring to Christ the Suffering. A striking red substance resembling lava emerges from beneath the sculpture’s silver and black surface. The color red also symbolizes rubedo, the final stage of the alchemical “Great Work,” connecting the piece to the exhibition’s theme, Between Worlds.

In Carolein Smit’s work, we can see her fascination with beauty, death, and transformation. She draws inspiration from Christian iconography, mythology, fairy tales, and anatomy, creating works that appear both beautiful and unsettling. In 2018, she had a solo exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and her works are also part of the museum’s collection.

Jakub Jansa’s Subterraneans featured in Tagesspiegel.

In their latest article, Highlights of Berlin Art Week: 12 Exhibitions and Events with Art Stars to Put on Your Calendar, Tagesspiegel highlights Subterraneans, Jansa’s current exhibition in Berlin, curated by Anya Harrison.

Presented by KodlContemporary during Berlin Art Week, Subterraneans brings together three films from Jansa’s ongoing “Club of Opportunities” series, exploring fictional worlds, social structures and the absurd narratives through which fears and prejudices take shape.

The article also highlights Jansa’s current participation in the 61st Venice Biennale, where he is representing the Czech Republic in the national pavilion.

Between Worlds - opening September 3, 7 PM

The exhibition brings together worlds that may initially seem distant, yet in fact share a deep historical and symbolic foundation - ceramics and alchemy.

The project presents the work of the Italian duo Bertozzi e Casoni , as well as Dutch and British artists Bouke de Vries and Carolein Smit , whose practices demonstrate ceramics as a medium capable of reflecting mythological, folkloric, and contemporary themes.

The exhibition invites reflection on how historical ideas of the transformation of matter continue to resonate in contemporary art, and how ceramics remain, even today, a material capable of carrying symbolic, experimental, and spiritual dimensions.
