The exhibition The Headless Horseman is currently on view at the Galerie hlavního města Prahy , bringing together the work of the artistic group of the same name, founded in 1996 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. The exhibition combines works from the group’s early years with new site-specific installations, exploring its place within the Czech art scene of the 1990s.

Alongside other artists, the exhibition features the work of Josef Bolf , one of the artists who formed the group.

The final week of the exhibition it’s giving real.

In her enigmatic paintings, Natacha Donzé explores how contemporary images shape our perception of the world. She draws on scientific visualizations, photographs, satellite and thermal camera imagery, transforming them into her own painterly language.

Her practice is characterized by airbrush techniques and luminous fields of color, into which she introduces organic structures reminiscent of cells, droplets, or microscopic organisms. Her paintings oscillate between the biological and the technological, the natural and the artificial.

In the Gatekeepers series, Donzé works with the motif of portals and passages as a metaphor for mechanisms that regulate access – from physical borders and institutions to algorithms, firewalls, and digital infrastructures. The image thus becomes an interface that simultaneously opens up and limits what we are able to see.

We are delighted that the work of Jakub Jansa has been featured in Kunstforum International magazine.

In its current issue dedicated to the 61st Biennale di Venezia, the magazine features an article on the Czech and Slovak Pavilion, which includes Jakub’s new film work The Silence of the Mole.

Jakub Jansa’s practice moves fluidly between film, installation, and performance. His work examines the systems, conventions, and power structures that shape contemporary life, often revealing the ideologies embedded within seemingly ordinary social relations and cultural forms.

Tree of Otherness explores transformation, otherness, and the space between imagination and reality. The sculpture is conceived as a living, constantly changing body shaped by the exchange between the imagined and the real. Drawing on the idea of auto-exotism, Podracký approaches difference and alienation not as limitations, but as sources of creative freedom. The organic, almost otherworldly form becomes a mediator between reality and “what could be, but is not.”

Kristian Touborg is a Danish artist working between painting and object-making. Combining oil, acrylic, collage, digital printing, and industrial materials, he creates layered works that move between abstraction and figuration while reflecting on how technology reshapes perception.

By emphasizing craftsmanship, material presence, and unconventional formats, Touborg contrasts the physical experience of painting with the speed and immateriality of digital culture. His practice approaches the image as an evolving ecology shaped by technology, visual circulation, and human experience.

Step into the studio of Austrian contemporary artist Sarah Bechter.

Sarah Bechter’s paintings begin with pigment scattered onto a wet canvas, allowing colour, movement, and intuition to guide the process. Instead of following a fixed composition, her figures gradually emerge, exploring themes of identity and belonging.

Bechter’s works are currently on view in the exhibition it’s giving real, on view until 23 August 2026.

The full studio visit is available on our website.

Sarah Bechter is an Austrian artist whose paintings explore the body as a fluid, shifting presence. Working with layered pigments and ambiguous figures, she creates compositions that blur the boundaries between intimacy, perception, and representation.

Gabriela Těthalová approaches painting as a dynamic system in which mathematical thought, bodily experience, and visual form constantly interact. Her work explores how structures emerge, transform, and dissolve, moving between order and chaos, conscious decision and unconscious gesture.

In “Beginning”, chaos becomes a generative force from which new forms emerge, while “Exit” reflects on letting go, movement, and the possibility of transcending physical limitations. “Derivation Daily” extends these ideas into the accelerating instability of the present, using the mathematical concept of change to reflect on a world in constant flux.

Across these works, painting becomes a space where transformation is not a rupture, but a continuous condition of existence.

Jan Kostohryz is a Czech artist whose practice combines contemporary figuration with the quiet poetry and subtle absurdity of everyday life. His paintings and sculptural works often focus on seemingly insignificant encounters between humans and insects, transforming moments of intimacy and disruption into scenes of quiet tension.

Working against the accelerated circulation of digital images, Kostohryz creates paintings through a slow, materially attentive process. His work draws attention to overlooked details and immediate, bodily experiences, offering a subtle reflection on contemporary life and the fragile boundaries of personal space.
