The project Dear Sons and Daughters of Ukraine of Anton Shebetko consists of two interconnected series exploring suppressed layers of Ukrainian history and identity.

The first presents barely visible portraits that reveal the often-erased q***r dimensions of prominent Ukrainian historical figures, while the second reinterprets destroyed or inaccessible Soviet-era monuments, offering alternative readings of their meaning.

Together, the works reflect on historical erasure, cultural appropriation, and new ways of understanding the past.

We’re revealing this year’s festival theme—and you’ll want to be there, too! ❤️‍🔥

The name “Wild Kin” refers to our wild relatives: animals, plants, and other species with whom we share the planet and a common ecosystem.

This theme runs like a common thread through the program of this year’s Fotograf Zone Festival.

This year, “Wild Kin” permeates the exhibitions, performances, discussions, and accompanying program, opening up space for new ways of perceiving the world and our place in it.

What languages do we actually use to communicate with one another? 🫦

Heeeeeey, the final days of the open call are here! Have you sent us your work yet? 👀

Fotograf Zone is searching for works that loosely relate to the festival theme: We are interested in projects that explore relationships between humans, animals, environments, or technologies.

The four selected projects will be exhibited in the Můstek metro entrance hall. The festival will cover all costs for production, printing, and installation of the exhibition and photodocumentation.

Submission Deadline: August 16, 2026

The second winner of this year’s Fotograf Magazine Open Call is Klara Kusa

Klára Kusá’s artistic practice draws on post-war art, philosophy, research methodologies and medical discourse. Through performative gestures, she intervenes in public and institutional spaces, activating them as sites of critique and dialogue.

Bringing together archival documents and contemporary photographs of memorial sites and institutions, her project asks how histories of control are preserved, remembered and mediated today.

It considers how memorials, archives and museums shape public understanding of authoritarian regimes — and how surveillance continues to affect contemporary societies.

Dílo Lenka Glisníková je součástí portfolia Fotograf Contemporary a její osobitý rukopis ji řadí k nejvýraznějším osobnostem současné české fotografie.

V rámci Collectors Clubu jsme minulý měsíc navštívili její ateliér a mluvili s ní o fotografii, technologiích, které ve svých dílech využívá, a také co její tvorbu dlouhodobě formuje.

We have announced the winners of this year’s open call for the upcoming issue of Fotograf Magazine! 🫶🏻

Joel Jimenez is an artist and filmmaker based in Madrid, working across photography, installation, and moving image.

In the project Glimmers, Feathers and Staring Skies, Joel explores grief, migration, and interspecies care through the figure of a hummingbird, weaving together personal archives with colonial and ornithological materials to examine the relationship between memory, myth, and photography.
