The Wheels & Weisswurscht Event at the BMW Group Classic was a great opportunity for us to present our latest project the BMW 503 RHD. The BMW 1600 GT is another project of the Classic Manufactory we finished earlier. Well and the BMW Z4M is my Pavel Vranek favourite car of the Renocar Red Roadsters Collection 😉. The BMW 503 coupé project is complete. The new BMW 1600 GT project began a few weeks ago. It involves a complete renovation of the body, engine and components, including the interior of the car.
The BMW 1600 GT is a fascinating story in the history of the Munich car manufacturer. The story does not begin with BMW, but with the Lower Bavarian car manufacturer Hans Glas GmbH. In 1963, the company introduced the elegant Glas 1300 GT coupé, designed by the famous Italian studio Frua. The car was beautiful, but Glas was in financial trouble. In 1966, BMW bought Glas, primarily to acquire its patents and production capacity for its expanding “New Class” (Neue Klasse). Along with the Dingolfing factory, BMW also inherited the Glas model line, including that handsome coupé.
