🚀 InGrid – The Only Project from Serbia at the ACE Exhibition in Barcelona!

At the UIA 2026 World Congress of Architects, our transformation of the Novkabel industrial hall into the InGrid – Schneider Electric Hub achieved remarkable international success.

Selected by the Architects' Council of Europe (ACE), InGrid is one of only 20 projects featured in the prestigious "Form Follows Transformation" exhibition - and the sole representative from our region! After Barcelona, the exhibition is heading to the European Parliament and Commission in Brussels.

Huge thanks to our partners Schneider Electric and Novaston for their unwavering trust and shared vision.

Structural Clarity & Tactile Design

In our Kosmaj project, the structure is the facade. We designed a monolithic concrete envelope without any decorative layers. To bridge the gap between minimalist geometry and the natural setting, the exposed concrete is cast using vertical wooden planks, leaving a rhythmic, tactile imprint of wood on the stone-like surface.

But this design goes beyond aesthetics:

-Energy Efficiency: The deep "trem" (porch) acts as a passive cooling element. The large glass surfaces are recessed, protecting the interior from direct summer sun while keeping the space bright and fresh.
-Construction Efficiency: The roof acts as the primary structure, allowing interior dry-construction to proceed quickly regardless of weather conditions, optimizing both time and budget.

Rational engineering meeting tactile beauty.

Material Synergy & Texture

Behind every strong silhouette lies the art of the detail.

This pavilion features a delicate, perforated bronze-gold metallic skin that wraps portions of the building, filtering light like a dense tree canopy. The perforation changes character depending on the angle of the sun, creating an internal layer of privacy while giving the exterior a rich, woven texture that feels both lightweight and secure.

🎓 Education Through Practice: The Architecture of Transformation on the Ingrid Project

At the invitation of professors Miljana Zeković and Dragana Konstantinović from the Faculty of Technical Sciences (FTN) in Novi Sad, our Project Director, Milena Katić, had the pleasure of hosting students and leading an expert guided tour of the InGrid Schneider Electric Hub.

Our future colleagues had the unique opportunity to step out of the classroom, visit the site and the building itself, and gain firsthand insight into the project:

🔹 Concept Development: A detailed analysis of the design process behind the complex transformation of the former Novkabel hall.

🔹 From Idea to Realization: Translating the architectural vision into a functional, built space through the lens of real-world challenges on the construction site.

The transformation of the Ingrid hall represents a truly pioneering endeavor in Serbia, the significance of which has been recognized in a broader European context. The project was selected by the Architects' Council of Europe (ACE) to participate in an international exhibition dedicated to the transformation of the built environment.

This exhibition is realized as part of the Creative Europe program and will be presented at the European Parliament, the European Commission, and the upcoming UIA World Congress of Architects later this month in Barcelona. 🇪🇺✨

A big thank you to the for the invitation and the opportunity to exchange experiences, inspire students, and contribute to the development of new generations of architects! 👏🚀

Design Management: The Engine of Project Success

At Zabriskie, we believe that great architecture is the result of both creative vision and rigorous management. Today, we are proud to feature Milica Palamarević, one of our Design Managers, who plays a vital role in transforming complex ideas into successful investments.

Milica was one of the key people in our team working on the National Concert Hall - a landmark project that required elite-level coordination. Within this large-scale collaboration, she was instrumental in:

-Strategic Coordination: Managing the intricate flow of information between international partners, local consultants, and state institutions.
-Process Transparency: Ensuring clear and reliable communication that builds trust between the client and the entire design team.
-Risk Mitigation: Turning complex processes into clear, actionable results.

We believe that expert coordination is what turns architectural vision into a secure and high-performing asset. With Milica and our dedicated management team, we ensure that every square meter is planned with clarity and delivered with precision.

Framing the Forest: Inside the Kosmaj Residence

Architecture should create a quiet background for life.

While the exterior of our Kosmaj residence is defined by raw concrete and structural rigor, the interior is designed as an intimate, warm sanctuary. We utilized wood and microcement to create a tactile and serene atmosphere, ensuring the space feels both grounded and sophisticated.

The defining feature of the interior is its visual release. Large-span sliding glass systems visually erase the boundary between the living area, the shared terrace, and the pool. The architecture acts as a frame, allowing the nearby forest to become the final, ever-changing scene of the living space.

A true balance of intimacy and openness.

The Boulevard Spirit: Reimagining Urban Rhythms at Bulevarnovi.

Architecture is not just about the buildings; it is about the life that happens between them and the street.

With Bulevarnovi, our goal was to recreate the recognizable urban atmosphere of Belgrade’s historic Bulevar Kralja Aleksandra. By introducing recessed ground floors and monumental colonnades, we have shaped a vibrant pedestrian zone that brings a sense of order and elegance to the neighborhood.

These architectural elements serve a dual purpose:

-Urban Identity: Continuing the classic "Boulevard" aesthetic from the Lion area further into the new development zones.
-Human Scale: Creating covered galleries that offer a rhythmic transition between the private residential spaces and the dynamic pulse of the street.

We believe that even large-scale developments can offer a refined, human-centric experience at the street level.

The Precision of the Grid

In large-scale practice, we rarely get to obsess over lines the way we can within the scope of a pavilion.

The architectural expression of this upcoming project relies on a deliberate structural order. Smooth, monolithic vertical elements ground the building, creating a serene rhythm that defines its identity. For our design team, this was an exercise in pure geometry where every junction, alignment, and shadow was carefully calculated to achieve effortless simplicity.

Architecture Rooted in the Landscape: A House in Nature

Great architecture does not impose on its environment; it listens to it.

We are excited to share the design for our latest residential project located on the slopes of Mount Kosmaj. The design is a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional Šumadija house - respecting the deep connection between the home, the yard, and the surrounding nature.

Instead of aggressively altering the terrain, the linear, minimalist composition of the building follows the natural topography. By extending the traditional "trem" (porch) along the entire facade, we created a porous boundary that invites the forest in while maintaining a clear sense of privacy and shelter.

At Zabriskie, we believe in creating spaces that honor the spirit of the place while delivering uncompromising modern living.
