The exhibition “A Universe in Miniature: The Art of Brushstrokes in Miniature Painting and Gongbi Art,” together with the Symposium on the Comparative Study of Gongbi Painting and Miniature Art, officially opened on March 24 at the Shanghai Art Collection Museum.

The exhibition was jointly organized by the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, the Kamaliddin Bekhzod State Museum of Oriental Miniature Art of Uzbekistan, the Union of Artists of Turkmenistan, and the Shanghai Art Collection Museum.

Ever wondered what happens when the intricate Persian miniatures of West Asia meet the delicate Gongbi paintings of China?

This exhibition brings together over 100 masterpieces from China, Uzbekistan, Iran, Turkey, and Turkmenistan. Though created thousands of miles apart, these artistic traditions share a common spirit — a pursuit of precision, vibrant mineral colors, and the ability to tell rich stories within the smallest spaces.

Within small formats, a vast universe unfolds.

We warmly welcome everyone to visit and experience the beauty of detail and the richness of cultural exchange.
