A few months ago, an old umbrella craftsman told us something we still can’t forget:
“One day… nobody may remember how to make these umbrellas anymore.”
For hundreds of years in China, oil paper umbrellas were handmade using bamboo, paper, brush painting, and natural oils.
Every umbrella carried patience, craftsmanship, and tradition.
But like many traditional crafts, fewer young people were interested.
Factories replaced handmade work.
Cheap products replaced stories.
Then something unexpected happened.
Young designers, photographers, stage performers, and even fashion brands started asking for traditional oil paper umbrellas again — but with a modern twist.
That’s when HFUmbrella decided to collaborate with traditional artisans.
Not to change the craft.
But to give it a new life.
Today, these umbrellas appear in:
✨ Fashion shoots
✨ Art installations
✨ Weddings
✨ Cultural tourism projects
✨ Stage performances around the world
This little video is part of our daily life — the people, the process, and the craftsmanship behind every umbrella.
Sometimes the future is not about inventing something new.
Sometimes it’s about making sure beautiful old things are not forgotten.
If you work with branding, art, performances, tourism, or creative projects, we’d love to connect.
