On June 6, we were suddenly informed by the local authority that the main structures of the museum would be demolished in the coming week, including the main exhibition hall, the library, and part of the artists’ residence. The news shocked us, there is no legal basis for the demolition, and it was outrageous that such significant news was communicated to us only a few days in advance. With the help of our lawyers and artists, we were able to limit the demolition to only the exhibition hall and save the rest of the buildings. We still don’t know exactly why the demolition is being carried out, or on what legal basis it was ordered.
