Haegue Yang “Sonic Droplets – Amber“. Art in architecture at the University Children’s Hospital Zurich, Eleonoren Foundation.
In the Room of Silence of the new children’s hospital hangs Haegue Yang’s “Sonic Droplets – Amber”: a luminous curtain composed of hundreds of stainless-steel bells that resonate softly when passed through. The delicate sound creates a moment of pause — making the silence that follows feel all the more intense.
As part of the art-in-architecture programme, the work brings together architecture, ritual, and sound to create a calming transitional space for patients, relatives, and staff. A place that releases a small sense of lightness with every step.
Susanne König of König Büro was responsible for the project management of the art-in-architecture work “Sonic Droplets – Amber” in the new University Children’s Hospital Zurich building by Herzog & de Meuron.
