In Unione di Luce, Helidon Xhixha lets the viewer’s gaze complete the form.

On the outside, the steel is pure, polished, almost perfect.
Within, the material transforms, vibrates, becomes organic.

And it is precisely there — where perfection ends — that union begins.

Two souls meeting.
Two lungs sharing the same breath.
A cell at the exact moment it becomes two.
Two bodies drawn to one another.
Or perhaps two worlds that, despite everything, cannot let each other go.

Light moves through these possibilities, reflecting across the surface and changing with the viewer.

Perhaps they are two.
Perhaps they have always been one.

What do you see?

Helidon Xhixha — Segmento di Luce

The monolith is a constant in Helidon Xhixha’s practice. Obelisks, vertical blocks, primary forms that the artist reinterprets through the contemporary language of reflective metal — from monumental installations in public space to collectible works.

Segmento di Luce belongs to this formal family. A bronze column with a burnished, opaque surface, geometrically rigorous, crossed along one side by a longitudinal fissure. Where the material opens, the bronze changes nature: mirror-polished, it ripples into irregular surfaces that catch the light and return it as gold, fragmenting the surrounding environment into images that shift with the viewer’s position.

The gesture is one Xhixha repeats across scales: take an archetypal form — vertical, stable, monumental in its logic even at intimate dimensions — and turn it into an optical instrument. The monolith stops being mass and becomes a device for light.

Executed in lost wax casting, in a limited edition.

Two faces, yet neither one offers a single identity.

In Midori and Keiko, part of Silvio Porzionato’s Avatar series, the portrait becomes something fluid: fragments overlap, colours interrupt the skin, nature enters the human figure and the face seems to continuously reconstruct itself.

Seen together, the two works reveal another side of the series — identity not as something fixed, but as something we compose, project and transform.

Perhaps the real portrait is not the face we see, but everything that exists between who we are and the image we create of ourselves.

We are pleased to present Rainbow Nautilus, a unique sculpture by Claudia Hartmann.

The work draws inspiration from the geometry of the Nautilus, a symbol of harmony and natural growth, reinterpreted through bronze.

Created using the traditional lost-wax casting technique, its surface is subsequently treated with fire to produce an iridescent patina that continuously changes with the light. Certain details are polished to a mirror finish, reflecting the surrounding space and making every viewpoint unique.

More than simply representing a shell, the work invites reflection on the dialogue between nature, material, and transformation.

Every variation in light reveals a new nuance, reminding us that beauty is never static.

With a total height of 25 cm, Rainbow Nautilus – XS has a more compact format than the artist’s other sculptures currently available at the gallery, making it an ideal choice for those wishing to introduce an important work of art into a more intimate space.

Dimensions:
Total height: 25 cm
Sculpture: H 15 × W 22 × D 15 cm
Base: Ø 12 × H 2 cm

Like all works by Claudia Hartmann, this sculpture is a unique piece.

✨ Spherical Light S — Helidon Xhixha, 2026

A perfect, mirrored sphere, fractured into fluid, sinuous openings — as if light itself had crystallized in steel. Within these fractures, the viewer is reflected, distorted, becoming part of the work.

Limited edition of 9, 24×24×27 cm.

The monumental version of this series is currently the centerpiece of Helidon Xhixha’s solo exhibition at the Guangdong Museum of Art in Guangzhou, China — a testament to the international significance of the artist’s exploration of light and matter.

Gate Gallery is pleased to present Silver Nautilus by Claudia Hartmann.

Cast in bronze through the ancient lost-wax technique, this unique piece tells the story of the nautilus shell as a living form, still growing. For this sculpture, Claudia chooses a grey pigment, wrapping the bronze in a soft, almost velvety patina, while the golden spiral heart remains lit, as if still holding the warmth of the fire it was born from.

Every work by Hartmann is born of patience: it passes through fire before finding its final form.

Silver Nautilus now finds its place at Gate Gallery, Lugano.

SATURN | Helidon Xhixha

A seemingly perfect sphere, traversed by dynamic fractures and fluid distortions — as if cosmic energy itself had left its mark on the material.

The mirror-polished surfaces reflect their surroundings with crystalline precision, while the sculpted areas seem to emerge from within, revealing a core in constant transformation. Xhixha explores the duality between geometric order and organic turbulence, between equilibrium and power.

Inspired by the structure of Saturn and its rings, the work interprets the planet not as a distant celestial body, but as a metaphor for light and motion.

⚡️ STARGATE ATLANTIS⚡️

A gateway between two worlds, sculpted in white bronze.

Claudia Hartmann transforms matter into motion: 79 cm in height, a 66 cm circle that opens like a luminous portal, suspended between science and myth. Every point, every hollow, every reflection tells of an explosion — as if a star had paused for a single instant before vanishing, leaving behind only its structure of light.

Hartmann continues to explore the boundary between nature and future, between organic and cosmic, with a sculptural language that has become a recognisable signature.

A unique piece, lost wax casting, 31 kg of mirror-polished white bronze.

A work that isn't simply looked at — it's a work you look through.

GOLD & JEANS, 2026
Helidon Xhixha

A miniature echo of a monumental idea.

Xhixha’s original work, “Light & Jeans” — a 3-meter sculpture in stainless steel wrapped in Candiani Denim — lives at the International Jeans Museum in Genoa, the birthplace of jeans.

Gold & Jeans is its more intimate counterpart: a unique piece in mirror-polished bronze, wrapped in the same denim.

Outside, worn denim — humble, familiar, everyday.
Inside, gleaming bronze — precious, transformative, unexpected.

It’s a fitting metaphor for jeans themselves. Born as workwear for cowboys and laborers — cheap, practical, made for blue collars — denim has become one of fashion’s most coveted materials, worn by everyone from field hands to collectors, priced anywhere from a few euros to a small fortune.

Gold & Jeans asks: what turns the ordinary into the precious? The material — or the eye of the beholder?

Gate Gallery takes you to the heart of creation: where the work of Claudia Hartmann is transformed into bronze.

Every sculpture by the artist follows a journey made of hands and fire. It all begins with wax, shaped by hand, and continues in the foundry through the lost-wax casting technique — a method passed down over centuries.

In this video we reveal the stages the public rarely sees: the molten bronze, its preparation, the birth of the form. And finally the patina: the unmistakable rainbow effect of Aurora Marina, achieved not with chemical substances but with the flame of a forche on the metal, guided by the experience of the master founder.

It is in this dialogue between the artist’s gesture and artisanal craftsmanship that Claudia Hartmann’s sculptures find their soul.
