SALTS is City SALTS in Birsfelden (since 2009, next to Basel, Switzerland), Country SALTS in Bennwil (since 2020, Baselland), and Cyber SALTS (online). The 2021 program is co-curated by Samuel Leuenberger and Benedikt Wyss. City SALTS cooperates in 2021 with Patrick Mudekereza (Director) and Véronique Poverello Kasongo ( Head of Programme) from the Waza Arts Centre in Lubumbashi (Democratic Republ

ic of Congo); Country SALTS welcomes Yann Chateigné from the KANAL – Centre Pompidou in Brussels and art historian, curator, and researcher Gabriella Beckhurst Feijoo as guest curators; Cyber SALTS continues to work with various contributors on video series, game research, AR app, and online exhibitions.

We invite you to the opening of our spring exhibition at City SALTS

UNCANNY GARDEN

Group exhibition with works by Eva Aeppli, Mathis Altmann, Angélique Aubrit & Ludovic Beillard, James Bantone, Morton Bartlett, Jacopo Belloni, Tobias Bradford, Loucia Carlier, Nathalie Djurberg & Hans Berg, Esther Hunziker, Sarah Lucas, Berenice Olmedo, Alberto Papparotto, Pilar Quinteros, Jorge Raka, Francisco Sierra, Tobias Spichtig, Cassidy Toner, Anna Uddenberg, Latefa Wiersch, and Pedro Wirz.

Uncanny Garden transforms City SALTS into a living web of humanoid presences. Sculptures, animatronic figures, video and sound works, paintings, and photographs blur the line between familiar and uncanny. Explore what it means to see ourselves mirrored in forms that resemble us. And to trust structures designed to represent or enhance the human.

Following „On Fire – Vulnerable Footage“ (2019), Uncanny Garden is the second collaboration with It’s The Real Thing – Basel Documentary Platform, supported by the Swisslos-Fonds Basel-Stadt, Swisslos Basellandschaft, Pro Helvetia, Ernst Göhner Stiftung, Stanley Thomas Johnson Stiftung, and Christoph Merian Stiftung.

Today, 12–7pm: last hours to see our winter exhibitions at City SALTS.

In the group exhibition ULTRA REGIO, we present new paintings, drawings, and sculptures by artists Wenhao He, Lizz Keller, Rose Le Goff, Arbesa Musa, Anaïs Strübin, Ramiro Oller, Ye Qian, Ayumi Tomita, Noémie Vidonne, Tabea Wasserfall, and Linus Weber.

The exhibition marks the first time in 16 years that Kunstverein SALTS has joined the Regionale program.

Pour sa première participation à , SALTS propose une présentation monographique d’Adrien Chevalley, avec un nouvel ensemble d’œuvres conçu spécialement pour cette occasion.

Adrien Chevalley (*1987, Château-d’Oex) vit et travaille à Vevey. Son travail explore, à travers la céramique et le dessin, des formes hybrides entre corps et technologie, nature et industrie, monde rural et urbain. Nourries par des récits dystopiques interrogeant l’impact humain sur l’environnement, ses œuvres esquissent des scénarios alternatifs fragiles et des équilibres en mutation.
