An invitation to play, to let go of control and to become part of the work itself. Spontaneity becomes more important than precision, curiosity more important than
certainty – and the process more important than the result.

Nothing is final.

Cedric Zellweger (b.1994) is an artist working across photography, sculpture, video games, and interactive media. His practice examines the culture of spectacle, focusing on technology, power, and consumerism through the lens of American capitalism. Blending satire with dystopian narratives, he creates critical reflections on how tech, pop culture, and ideology shape contemporary society. Winner of the Swiss Design Awards 2026 and the IMAGES VEVEY × ECAL 2025 Prize.

Sacha Rappo’s stone sinks turn the exhibition space into a dysfunctional plumbing system. Mounted on wheels, pierced by drainage holes, and connected by a single plug, they create a deliberately dysfunctional network where resources can never be distributed equally. Retention and leakage become sculptural gestures, exposing the invisible systems that organise everyday life.

Sacha Rappo (b.1990) is an artist and graduate of the Bern University of the Arts (HKB). Working primarily with sculpture and installation, his practice explores the agency of stone and its relationship to humans and other materials. Combining technical precision with philosophical inquiry, he investigates geology, collective memory, and the complex coexistence of living beings and so-called inert matter.

“Facing Kim’s works, Dafne Cardinale Sánchez removes consumption almost entirely. Her analogue photographs are filled with traces instead of products, presence instead of spectacle. Empty spaces, subtle gestures, worn surfaces, fragments of everyday life: these become evidence that people leave emotional infrastructures behind them. In dialogue with Kim, food shifts from commodity to memory. Consumption becomes intimacy rather than display,” excerpt from curatorial text.

Kim Käsermann‘s series ? looks at the consumption-driven aesthetics of social media and asks what happens when intimacy becomes an image. Aperitif platters, colourful brunches, golden-hour drinks — the visual language of Instagram becomes a way to talk about memory, friendship, desire, and the everyday rituals of Western culture.

Kim Käsermann (b. 1998) is a painter and graduate of the Bern University of the Arts (HKB). Working from personal photographs and conversations, she moves between figuration and abstraction, using colour and vulnerability to explore the distance between private experience and public image.

Things do not have value. Value is produced.

A supermarket is one of the clearest places where we learn this lesson. Every object has been packaged, transported, priced, positioned, and illuminated before it reaches us. Choice feels personal, but it is carefully engineered. Desire appears spontaneous, but it is choreographed through infrastructure.

Exhibition approaches the supermarket not as a place where food is sold, but as a system that organises visibility, movement, labour, attention, and value. Responding to this year’s Kunsttage Basel theme Culinary Infrastructures, the exhibition asks what happens when these same mechanisms enter the gallery. How are artworks displayed, circulated, and assigned value? What remains invisible behind the finished object? And what kinds of economies, material, emotional, ecological, or political, exist beneath the polished surface of consumption?
