Art is deeply personal. It’s not enough to like a piece, you need to want to wake up with it on your wall every morning. For that reason, we rarely advocate for one piece over the other or admit to our favourite until the purchase decision has been made. That being said, here are our top 5 Dorset pieces this year in no particular order.

Come see the full collection on the wall until Wednesday or view available pieces on the website now.

We have begun staging the pieces in preparation for hanging tomorrow’s show by Jonah Cutler. These pieces need time to appreciate. They are extraordinarily detailed and thoughtful. Each piece represents hours of work over the course of days or even weeks. Colour is used sparingly and deliberately. Layers of ink, pencil, and paper put together to form a complete thought. Bring your reading glasses and set aside a few extra minutes to really appreciate the complexity of Jonah’s work.

If you’ve been in The Gallery the past few Fridays, you may have noticed new pieces being dropped off by a familiar face. Yellowknife acupuncturist, William Porter, is also a skilled painter and takes his work to unexpected places using reclaimed items to bring his vision together. William’s website category has recently been updated. Take a peak at some of the over 800 items we have hiding in the back rooms of The Gallery.
