Nature Art Camp invited students to look at the outdoors through a creative lens! 🌿

Throughout the week, students explored local parks and trails, gathering inspiration from the natural world and incorporating found items into their artwork. From textures and shapes to colour and composition, nature became part of the creative process.

A special thank you to guest artist Roxanne Tocher, who guided students in creating their own masks using recycled cardboard and organic materials. 🍃🎭

From the Vault:

Throughout the 1930s and into the late 1940s, R. York Wilson had a successful career in commercial art. It wasn’t until 1949, when a six-month visit to the artist colony in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, brought Wilson to the realization that he wanted to move beyond his commercial career.

From there, his practice focused on art in terms of colour and light. In Paris in 1966, Wilson had a series of dreams that led him to concentrate solely on geometrics. This geometric style can be seen in Blue Opus.

From magical landscapes to imaginative characters, Fantasy Art Camp invited students to bring their biggest ideas to life through art!🎨

Throughout the week, students were challenged to explore fantastical ideas and bring them to life through their artwork. They experimented with a variety of mediums, including watercolour, clay, collage, acrylic paint, and more.

A special thank you to guest artists Lindsay Liboiron and Megan Milton for sharing techniques and inspiring students as they developed their own unique landscape and character designs. 🏰🖌️
