Oxford County’s largest municipal public gallery with a permanent collection of over 1,900 works.

The Woodstock Art Gallery occupies three floors of the former John White Building, located in the heart of downtown Woodstock opposite Museum Square. The WAG is Oxford County’s largest municipal public gallery with a permanent collection of over 1,900 works. The WAG celebrates the talent of local, regional and national artists. The Dr. Leonard Reeves Gallery, located on the first floor, is dedicated to exhibiting historical and contemporary artworks drawn from the permanent collection. The second floor Main Gallery features banner exhibitions that change three times a year. The Community Gallery, also located on the second floor, highlights the creative endeavors of emerging and established artists, along with a number of special projects developed in partnership with local community groups and organizations. The Woodstock Art Gallery conducts adult, teen and children’s classes, workshops and programs and offers volunteer opportunities, membership benefits and facility rentals. The Gallery gift shop supplies unique items made local artisans. The WAG has free admission, is fully accessible and has free parking located nearby.

The gang’s all here! Discover the world of Peanuts at the Woodstock Art Gallery.

On display now: “The Life and Art of Charles M. Schulz”, a travelling exhibition organized by the Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, California. On view October 10, 2026 – February 20, 2027.

The exhibition follows Schulz from his Minnesota roots to his life in California and tracks the development of the characters that make up the unique world of Peanuts. Ten original comic strips and 30 reproductions, as well as Schulz quotes, information panels and historical photographs illuminate the story behind the creation of this most popular and influential cartoon strip.

The exhibition is brought to life with interactive activities for the whole family to enjoy, including create-your-own Peanuts comic strip tracing tables, take home crafts, photo opportunities and community engagement prompts to encourage visitors to reflect on the Peanuts legacy and happiness in Woodstock and Oxford County.

🗝️ From the Vault:

James Kemp joined the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserves in 1939, serving in various locations throughout Canada and the U.K. before returning to London, Ontario and his previous employer, London Life Insurance Company, in 1946.

During the war, Kemp drew cartoons and illustrations for several publications, including “Maclean’s.” He was an active supporter of the London art scene, particularly the London Art Gallery, and was very generous in giving demonstrations and talks in various locations outside of London and in Woodstock, Ontario.

Although he had some early art training, Kemp was largely self-taught. The early 1950s works tend to show a cubist influence, but after a heart attack in 1956, his work became softer and more expressionistic, as seen in “Red Table with Flowers.”

Join us for High School Portfolio Day—a free, one-day workshop where students can connect with local artists and creative professionals, explore creative careers, and gain insight into professional arts practice.

Students will meet artists working across visual art, photography, film, tattooing, printmaking, music, public art, and arts education, including:

On September 1, the Woodstock Art Gallery was pleased to host a Teacher Appreciation Coffee Break in partnership with Streets Ahead Coffee Roasters and MyKitchen, recognizing the teachers in our community. 🍎☕🎨

Teachers enjoyed coffee, connected with colleagues, and took time to fully immerse themselves in the arts. Thank you to the educators who joined us, and to our partners for helping make the morning so special! ✨

This past weekend, we got spooky at our Sip & Sculpt: Creepin’ It Creative event! 👻✨

Attendees enjoyed relaxing charcuterie and beverages while creating cute and creepy ceramic ghosts.

🌀 “The Guardian Water Spirit” (pictured) is part of “Great Small Things: 60 Years of Collecting,” the Woodstock Art Gallery’s 60th Anniversary Exhibition.

Created in 1973 by artist Carl Ray, this work was inspired by the art of Norval Morrisseau and the Woodland School style. Ray used his art to depict traditional Indigenous stories.

🐟 Shaped like a fish, the water spirit moves fluidly in a circular motion across the page. Thick black outlines define its form, while fine brown and black lines create its details.

✨ See “The Guardian Water Spirit” as part of “Great Small Things: 60 Years of Collecting,” on view in the Dr. Leonard Reeves Gallery on the first floor at the Woodstock Art Gallery until January 9, 2027.
