Claude Monet’s Impression, Sunrise captures the early morning light over the harbor of Le Havre, France. The loose brushstrokes and glowing sun create a feeling of movement and atmosphere rather than focusing on precise details. This painting became especially important because its title helped give the Impressionist movement its name.

Did you know that making art can actually be good for your brain?
The National Institute on Aging says that taking part in creative activities can help support memory, boost your mood, and keep your mind active as you age. It also gives you a chance to slow down, connect with others, and simply enjoy creating.
As Pablo Picasso said, "The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls."

It’s the final week of Art From the Attic!

Here are two more pieces from the exhibit: Just Be (Triptych) by Cyndie Sutherland and Parrot Talk by Olga Krahn.

We’ve really enjoyed bringing together this mix of artwork and giving pieces that haven’t been seen in a while another chance to be on display. A number of pieces are also for sale!

If you haven’t made it in yet, this is your last chance! The exhibit wraps up this Saturday!

Come take one last look before it's gone! 🖼️

Registration is now open for our new After School Art Club!

This fall we're trying something a little different with our program for ages 5–8. Instead of focusing on one type of art, the Art Club will introduce kids to the fundamentals while giving them a chance to work with different materials and try different projects each week.

There are two 6-week sessions to choose from this Fall, or kids can join us for all 12 weeks at a discounted rate!

Tuesdays from 4–5:30pm, starting September 15.

All supplies are included and space is limited to 10 kids per session.

Artist Quote of the Week
Art has always been about more than creating something beautiful. It's about sharing the feelings, perspective, and stories that connect us.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our BBQ at Gardenland Co-op yesterday! 🌭

Thanks to your support, we raised just over $960 for Winkler Arts + Culture!

We also want to give a big thank you to Co-op for hosting us and for all their support in making the fundraiser happen, as well as our board members who came out to help for the day.

And apparently it was also a day for trying new things. Dan had his first ever sausage burger! 🍔

Thanks again, Winkler! We really appreciate the support. ❤️

Building Community

Sometimes the most important thing we can create isn't artwork. It's connection.

Our monthly Newcomer Welcome Evenings, hosted in partnership with Regional Connections, are an opportunity for newcomers and longtime residents to meet, build relationships, and feel more connected to the community they call home.

We actually hosted our latest Welcome Evening just yesterday, and we're grateful to everyone who continues to take part and help make these evenings possible.

The arts can bring people through our doors, but building a stronger and more welcoming community is a big part of why we believe spaces like ours matter.

Lifelong Creativity

Learning doesn't stop after school, and neither does creativity.

Our workshops welcome participants of all ages and experience levels, providing opportunities to learn new skills, connect with others, and continue growing creatively.

Whether someone is picking up a paintbrush for the first time or building on years of experience, these programs help strengthen our local arts community.

We're grateful to everyone who continues to support lifelong learning through the arts.

🎟️ Our 10th Anniversary 50/50 Raffle is one way to help us continue offering these opportunities in the years ahead. Buy your tickets now at www.winklerarts.com/raffle

A few more pieces getting their second chance to be seen! 🖼️

Lone Loon by Valerie Klassen and Wooden Church by Sylke van Niekerk are both part of our current "Art From the Attic" exhibit.

This exhibit brought together artwork from local artists that had been tucked away, stored, or simply hadn't been shown in a while, giving each piece another opportunity to be out on display.

Art From the Attic is on now until August 29. Stop in and take a look!
