Happy everyone! Today we are looking back at a fun and unusual photo from 1970 featuring a turtle sitting beside a telephone. Photos like this help us remember how much the world has changed over time while also capturing small, memorable moments that made people smile.
What do you think the turtle was “calling” about?
Have you ever used a rotary phone before? What do you think people in 1970 would say if they saw today’s smartphones?

Happy everyone! This week, we’re sharing an incredible photo from 1979 showing the Wetaskiwin fire department battling a car fire, a powerful snapshot of local history and the brave firefighters who kept the community safe. The old fire trucks from that era had so much character, from their classic designs and bright paint to their equipment and sirens, which many people still remember today.
Does anyone remember these old fire trucks or the firefighters who served during that time? What do you miss most about the old fire hall, equipment, or community events involving the fire department?
We’d love to hear your memories, stories, and see any old photos you may still have tucked away!
