Robert Langen Art Gallery

Robert Langen Art Gallery Robert Langen Art Gallery is located on the main floor of the Library at Wilfrid Laurier University

The Robert Langen Art Gallery (RLAG) has played a vital role at Wilfrid Laurier University since its opening in 1989. As the University's visual arts centre, the Gallery exists to provide knowledge, stewardship, appreciation and enjoyment of Canadian art and culture to members of the Laurier community and to the community at large. To achieve this goal the RLAG offers annual programming that refle

cts and compliments concepts and theories in the university’s academic curriculum and also integrates community outreach initiatives as related to the visual arts. Working with the WLU academic community and community partners the gallery develops exhibitions, artist lectures and arts related events which meets the needs of each academic year. Named in honour of Robert Langen, Professor Emeritus and Art Committee Chair (1968-1977), the Robert Langen Art Gallery is committed to providing a focus which is unique and reflective of contemporary Canadian art issues. Exhibition schedules are booked one to two years in advance of each academic year and all featured artists are working professionals. The curator has adopted an inter-disciplinary approach to exhibition programming and the RLAG hopes to encourage creative thinking, challenge viewers to explore new ideas and expand on their personal development.
