Wallace and Area Museum

Wallace and Area Museum The Wallace and Area Museum is home to the perfect combination of history and health. Davison. Kennedy - the last living member of the Davison line in Wallace.

The Wallace and Area Museum is housed in a heritage home built in 1839 by James B. Together with his brother David, they operated a successful shipyard on the property's waterfront that at its height, built 6 ships a year. The property was donated to the province of Nova Scotia in the 1990s by John F. The Wallace and Area Museum Society, in partnership with the province, opened the doors of the Mu

seum to the public for the first time on June 27, 1993. Further renovations and the addition of an Annex in 2004 and waterfront picnic park in 2019 have enhanced the property and our ability to accommodate large groups interested in visiting the Wallace & Area Museum. Gracious donations and the Davison-Kennedy family collection of artifacts help us in sharing a sampler of the extraordinary tales from this ares over the past 180 years. These stories that make up the rich tapestry of our heritage are showcased through a number of permanent and annual displays and seasonal events. Our aim is to give each visitor the opportunity to learn or to experience something new with each visit. While here, please take a moment to explore the exquisite floral gardens on the property, or perhaps walk one of the nature trails or rest at a table in the waterfront picnic park. The Museum has an onsite gift shop that features locally made items and gift ideas that are inspired the collection. Free tourism maps and visitor information can also be found inside at the Visitor Information Centre. Are you looking to hold an event? The Murray Reeves Community Room is available year-round with a kitchenette and screened-in deck during the summer months and heated floors in the winter. There are also outdoor spaces ideal for your picture-perfect photographs and/or wedding venue.
