Using the magic of computer animation, videographer Yusuke Shigeta reimagines the famous folding screen painting from the 1620s. It portrays the Battle of Sekigahara, fought on October 21st, 1600, in the present-day Gifu prefecture, one of the most important battles in Japanese feudal history. The samurai warriors of Tokugawa Ieyasu squared off against those loyal to the ruling Toyotomi clan. With roughly 140,000 troops between them, Ieyasu’s forces won, paving the way for the Tokugawa shogunate, which stayed in power for another 250 years.

Just open a new name - Canadian Inuit artist Luke Anguhadluq. He explored themes of hunting, drum dancing, and community in his delicate primitivist manner. The more madness there is in the world, the more delicate and distant from reality artworks my mind focuses on. Is it the protest against global chaos or the desire to escape?
