Happy Africa Day! 🌍

Today, I celebrate the beauty, strength, creativity, and wisdom of Africa through this stunning Zimbabwean stone sculpture.

This artwork of a young woman peacefully reading while lying on her tummy reminds us that knowledge is power and reading is the key to success. πŸ“š

As a Zimbabwean living in British Columbia, Canada, I am proud to share a piece of our rich African heritage with the world. Zimbabwean stone sculpture is more than art β€” it tells stories, inspires generations, and carries the spirit of Africa.

Let us continue to empower our communities through education, culture, and creativity.

Happy Africa Day to all Africans and friends of Africa around the world. β€οΈπŸ–€πŸ’š

Wishing you all a creative, peaceful, and successful weekend ahead!

Over time in my life as a stone sculptor, I have realized that every tool I use creates its own unique sound. What is exciting and interesting about these sounds is that each one reflects the texture I am creating in the sculpture.

In this video, I am polishing a dolomite sculpture with sandpaper. The sound that comes from the process flows together with the smoothness the sculpture is becoming. Every sound my tools make gives me the energy and motivation to continue creating and keep going.

Today I’m polishing this piece by hand using water and sandpaper β€” a careful process that reveals the natural beauty hidden inside the stone.

Art is not rushed. Every smooth finish comes from dedication, passion, and respect for the craft.

Thank you, Vancouver, for supporting handmade Zimbabwean sculpture and African art. ✨
