Art Beatus Gallery was founded in Hong Kong in 1992. With an addition of a second gallery in Vancouver, Canada in 1996, Art Beatus is the first gallery of its kind operating simultaneously on both sides of the Pacific. Art Beatus represents and promotes international modern and contemporary art with a special focus on contemporary Chinese art. Traditional Chinese art has a profound history that is widely recognized throughout the world; the last one hundred years saw many significant developments in contemporary Chinese art which are no less significant. Art Beatus is continually seeking out new talents to add to its illustrious list of contemporary Chinese artists. It is our goal to pursue a wider recognition of contemporary Chinese art throughout the world and to promote and assist in the establishment of noteworthy art collections.

Art Beatus (Vancouver) Consultancy Ltd. is very pleased to present awarding-winning animation director and writer, artist, and educator, Joe Chang, in a gallery and online solo exhibition of vinyl ink paintings, "In the Company of Nature."

The majority of the vinyl paintings – ink used in traditional Chinese painting on transparent celluloid film used in traditional animation – in this exhibition is selected from Chang's “Dog Walker” series that began in 2024. According to the artist, “In the city I live in, in my neighbourhood and in the apartment I live in, I often see dogs and dog lovers and families, and they are everywhere.” Chang has curiously observed in this ubiquitous demographic the emotional interactions between humans and canines. Whether the dog owners are casual joggers or chic fashionistas, the artist has tried to convey in these vinyl ink paintings this seemingly natural affinity that people have towards their beloved dogs.

Art Beatus (Vancouver) Consultancy Ltd is very pleased to present an in-person gallery exhibition and an online exhibition of paintings by Ketty Haolin Zhang.

Selected from an ongoing series, Zhang's paintings are based on digital documentation of her life and travels that also draw from her diasporic experiences as a 1.5-generation immigrant.

While the works take place in diverse places in different countries, or even in flight, they all take place at night. Her use of the nocturnal is “a way to readdress feelings of uncertainty that have informed Zhang's identity since her early teen years” as well as a place where she can explore “her relationship with placelessness, liminality and (non)belonging in a hyper-globalized world.”

Exhibition is on from March 17 to May 30, 2025. The gallery is open Mon-Fri, 10.30am to 6pm.
