Today, we recognize and celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day, a time to honour the cultures, histories, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Mรฉtis peoples.

We invite you to explore these perspectives through our exhibition "Culture at the Centre", where six First Nations communities share their relationships with biodiversity. You can also engage with the "Sturgeon Harpoon Knowledge Web", a collaborative exhibition between the Beaty and the Musqueam First Nation highlighting the deep connections between land, water, and culture.

You can also experience our current exhibition, "Li bo**ee mishiwayitay โ€” The Beauty of It All", a powerful exhibition by Daphne Boyer that weaves together Mรฉtis peoplesโ€™ traditional handwork, digital technologies, plant materials, and porcupine quills.

As part of Indigenous History Month celebrations, the museum will also host an Indigenous Fashion Night with Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week (VIFW) on June 25, celebrating Indigenous creativity, art, and design.

The Beaty Biodiversity Museum stands on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the Musqueam people. We are grateful to the Musqueam for their ongoing collaboration in helping us deepen our understanding of the many ways of knowing and connecting with the natural world.

Until the end of August, the museum is open 7 days a week from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and we offer free admission year-round for Indigenous visitors.

We invite you to visit, learn, and reflect with us, today and beyond. Plan your visit, explore the exhibitions, and deepen your understanding of Indigenous perspectives on biodiversity. Visit beatymuseum.ubc.ca for more information.
