On International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, we celebrate the knowledge, languages, creativity and environmental stewardship of Indigenous Peoples around the world.

August 9 is also a reminder of the ongoing work needed to uphold Indigenous rights, address the impacts of colonialism and support Indigenous Peoples’ inherent right to determine their own political, cultural, social and economic futures.

Today and every day, may we continue to listen to Indigenous voices, learn from Indigenous knowledge and support Indigenous self-determination.

Our staff may work at the Gallery, but the real management team works from home. 🐈

Meet Luna, Tuna, Cricket, Raven, Marie, Maggie and Tess: experts in keyboard supervision, unsolicited feedback, and sitting directly on whatever you need most.

Give it up for the Gallery’s Board of Meowmbers and happy to all the beautiful kitties out there. 😼

Last chance to see Jamie Gentry: Blossoming 🌸
Closing August 10th!

Featuring handmade moccasins by Kwakwaka’wakw artist Jamie Gentry, the exhibition brings together intricate floral beadwork, personal storytelling, and a practice rooted in care, culture, and intention.

These works mark a deeply personal chapter in Jamie’s practice, one centred on growth, joy, and creative freedom.

Three days to go! 👀🪩

Our final performer spotlight goes to Ella l'Amoureux, a Two-Spirit drag artist from the Kaska Dena First Nation and a standout from Season 1 of 'Call Me Mother'.

Originally from the Yukon, Ella has played an important role in growing Kelowna's drag scene, using her platform to uplift and advocate for Two-Spirit people through bold, joyful performance.

See Ella take the stage at Let’s Hear It for 2-Spirit! alongside Ilona Verley, Jaylene Tyme, Thanks Jem, and Theo Rhetical, with DJ O Show bringing the music all evening.

Plus, shop from 2-Spirit vendors, enjoy bannock and light refreshments, and visit stand for zines and educational resources on 2-Spirit identities.

📅 August 8
⏰ 6–8 pm

We’re only a few days away, so now’s the time to grab your tickets!

Jimothy heard Vancouver was nearby and decided to see what all the fuss was about. Naturally, the Bill Reid Gallery was on his itinerary.

Fun fact: Jimothy is a HUGE arts guy. Very cultured. Very sophisticated.

Did he make a donation? No.
Are we holding it against him? No, it's ok; he's too cute.

He DID become a member though, so we’re choosing to focus on the positives. 😌
