Our guided tours offer a chance to dive deeper into Bill Reid's legacy, explore our current exhibitions, and discover the stories behind the art. We also offer specialized tours for ESL students, seniors, and community groups!

🔴 Free Admission Friday 🔴

Spend your Friday afternoon at the Gallery with free admission from 2–5 pm, thanks to our Community Access Partner, Downtown Vancouver.

Our new exhibition, Cradled Origins, is now on view. Featuring eight emerging and mid-career First Nations artists working across carving, weaving, painting and beadwork, the exhibition explores how cultural knowledge and teachings are carried forward while artists continue to expand and evolve their individual practices.

🔴 Beaded Ghost Earrings Workshop with Candice Harvey 🔴⁠

Get into the spooky season with a hands-on beading workshop led by Syilx artist Candice Harvey of DepecheBeads!

In this beginner-friendly workshop, participants will create their own pair of beaded ghost earrings, just in time for Halloween! Candice will guide participants through the process step by step using a prepared pattern, sharing her knowledge and approach to beadwork along the way.

Whether you’re new to beading or looking for a fun seasonal project, this workshop is an opportunity to learn new skills, get creative, and leave with a handmade pair of ghost earrings to wear throughout the spooky season.

No previous beading experience is required! Limited to 15 participants.

Candice Harvey is a Syilx artist whose family comes from the Upper Nicola Band. She began learning beadwork as a way to reconnect and create art, and shares her work through DepecheBeads.

Candice is currently studying at Simon Fraser University, where she is completing a bachelor’s degree in Archaeology with a minor in Indigenous Studies. Her goal is to pursue work that helps uplift Indigenous voices and supports the repatriation of Indigenous belongings and cultural heritage.

🧡 As September 30 approaches, we take time to reflect on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day to recognize the tragic legacy of residential schools, remember the children who never returned home, honour Survivors, and acknowledge the families and communities who continue to live with their impacts. The day also coincides with Orange Shirt Day, first observed in 2013.

This year, we are honoured to share 'The Children Are Coming Home' by Ditidaht, Nuu-chah-nulth artist Deanna Samuel

“In our Nuu-chah-nulth teachings, children are sacred. They are the seeds of our future and the carriers of the teachings, songs, language, and strength of our people.”

'The Children Are Coming Home' speaks to remembrance, healing, belonging, and the enduring strength of culture. As Deanna writes:

“Home has always known their names, even when the world tried to forget them.”

👉 On September 30, the Gallery will be open from 10 am to 3 pm, with free admission for all visitors, made possible by BMO Financial Group

Last Saturday, we shared a beautiful afternoon at the Gallery celebrating the opening of Cradled Origins. ❤️

Audrey Siegl (Musqueam) offered moving words during the celebration, and one passage in particular stayed with us:

“I raise my hands to the artists and the curators, and to this space for being open to hosting exhibits that not many other places do, or often other places just won’t.”

We are deeply grateful to our Exhibition Partner, YVR Art Foundation, and proud to celebrate the emerging and mid-career artists featured in the exhibition: Chase Gray, Chico Seitcher, Delphine Campbell, Grace Edwards, James Kwaksistala, Kashka Clellamin, Randi Ball and Serena Steel.
