JOIN THE Ah! CENTRE BOARD

We are currently seeking new volunteers for our Board of Directors.

The role of an Ah! Board Member requires a commitment of 6-8 hours per month, which includes:
• One board meeting
• A couple of shifts at the gallery
• Possibly some committee work

Not ready to commit to joining the Board? Why not consider becoming a volunteer and take a 2-hour shift during gallery hours?

Either way, the payback is getting to know your community and share in the present and future development of this amazing Trent Hills arts resource. Plus, volunteers get a chance to meet and greet the artists, learn about the work displayed, are invited to the opening receptions, and attend our annual volunteer appreciation event!

Ah! Arts and Heritage Centre, Warkworth creates access to arts and heritage exhibitions, learning, engaging and experiencing for all ages by successfully supporting, partnering, and collaborating with others who believe that Arts and Heritage engagement is essential for a healthy community.

The Ah! Centre, along with Centre & Main Chocolate Co. Warkworth presents a very unique collaborative exhibition to complete our 2026 Season called “CROSSROADS”, featuring sculptures by Michael Nathaniel Green of Havelock, Ontario, and paintings by Jennifer McGregor of Hamilton, Ontario.

Michael Nathaniel Green
Using a balance between abstraction and representation, Michael points to the ever changing qualities of reality weaving the familiar and the unfamiliar together. He is drawn to the sensual, ephemeral and ambiguous use of everyday materials in unconventional ways. Colour also plays a central role in his sculpture as he uses it to touch on the whimsical and to stimulate one’s desire.

In “Crossroads”, Jennifer McGregor debuts a new series of paintings grounded in her personal connection to Warkworth. Motivated by her love for the landscape, community and cherished memories with her family in the region, the collection demonstrates a new direction for McGregor’s artistic practice; a move away from abstracted exploration of form and content towards representational expression of the very heartfelt real.

He is a member of the Ontario Society of Artists and the Colour and Form Society, and his paintings can be found in corporate collections across North America. His use of vibrant colours, attention to detail and thought-provoking subject matter consistently leaves the viewer questioning his motives.

The natural world has been the inspiration for his art, as he tries to portray the ignored and overlooked life forms that live around us. Bob’s art aims to engage the viewer in a visual conversation by putting the subjects in unusual and provocative situations.

Using high realism styles, he also enjoys incorporating other unique techniques into his art to effectively enhance and support his vision, including incorporating gold and silver leafing and using faux-finishing techniques like wood graining, marbling, and more.

Visit The Ah! Centre for a two-person exhibition featuring Ruth Shaw's Sacred Architecture and Kay Gregg's Lords and Ladies.

In Sacred Architecture, Ruth Shaw presents mixed media assemblage works built from repurposed textiles, found objects, and overlooked fragments. Her layered pieces draw together memory, history, and material transformation, creating richly textured works that connect past and present.

In Lords and Ladies, Kay Gregg brings history, fashion, and theatrical flair together through sculptural mannequin forms wrapped in vintage brass rubbings and embellished with repurposed trims and found jewellery. The work is maximal, playful, and full of character.
