Gallery of the Portuguese Pioneers

Gallery of the Portuguese Pioneers The Gallery of the Portuguese Pioneers is an independent heritage museum focused on exploring & sharing the history of Portuguese immigration to Canada.

The Gallery of Portuguese Pioneers was inaugurated in 2003 to honour Portuguese immigrants who arrived in Canada predominantly in 1953, 1954 and 1955. It is currently located at 960 St. Clair Ave West, West of Oakwood Ave in the city of Toronto, not far from where many of the immigrants arrived. These pioneers, who scattered all across the country, created a path for many future immigrants. In the

museum you will find stories and memorabilia which provide a snapshot of the lives of those who are truly pioneers of their time. The community should use the museum as a place of reflection, study and as a space to show future generations where Portuguese immigration began. Visit and tell us how to improve…
