We are pleased to invite you to the opening of Fabulous Neoconstantinopolitanism by Jeanne Randolph with John Monteith, with additional artworks by Josef Albers, Robert Motherwell, and Victor Vasarely.

In the Visible Vault’s Study Centre is the latest of Jeanne Randolph’s series of works that explore the world of La Betty. Inspired by the tribulations of St. Anthony of the Desert, La Betty is inheritor of twentieth-century consumer-grade materialism, buttressing herself from existential anxieties with advertising slogans and luxury goods. Laying in front, we find an abstract rug by contemporary artist John Monteith. Brought in to unsettle the works on the wall (and perhaps the assumptions of the collection), it provides a stage from which Randolph’s narrative unravels.

Jeanne Randolph and John Monteith will be present for the opening.

We are pleased to invite you to the opening of Torkwase Dyson: The Distance Inside Us (Bird and Lava) curated by Lillian O’Brien Davis.

Torkwase Dyson’s The Distance Inside Us (Bird and Lava) explores the literal and conceptual spaces of liberation and confinement as a world-building exercise in a time of ecological crisis. Installed across all three gallery spaces, the exhibition is a culmination of an ongoing series entitled Bird and Lava which meditates on the dense and fluid variations of space to emphasize a liminal state of belonging.

Torkwase Dyson (b. 1973, Chicago) describes herself as a painter working across multiple mediums to explore the continuity between ecology, infrastructure, and architecture. Examining the history and future of black spatial liberation strategies, Dyson’s abstract works grapple with the ways in which space is perceived and negotiated, particularly by black and brown bodies. The artist has distilled a vocabulary of poetic forms to address the spaciousness of freedom and question what type of climates are born out of world building.

On July 29th we will be celebrating the completion of the Art on My Mind 2026: Live Performance Incubator with a live showcase featuring showstopping performances by our headliners R&B Singer Kibra and up and coming hip hop artist Jayy Brown. This musical event also provides four of the program participants a platform to demonstrate what they have learned through this live performance intensive which included a series of individualized mentorship sessions facilitated by lead music educator Kibra.
Benefitting from one on one coaching sessions, Yasmine Ariel, Rada, Jordi and Rith worked closely with Kibra to build their 15 minute sets which entailed selecting songs, structuring and determining the order of songs in the set, with the objective of shaping an engaging musical trajectory. The curriculum also focused on honing their stage presence and explored diverse strategies to engage and connect meaningfully with their audience.

This artistic development program also afforded participants the opportunity to rehearse and perform with a band. Participants learned and benefitted greatly from performing alongside incredible musicians including keyboardist Rachel Smith, Bass player Adriel Bennett, guitarist Daniel Espina and percussionist D’Andre Wilson.

The Goldfarb Gallery is thrilled to be teaming up with the Jane/Finch Centre to co-present this showcase which is presented in conjunction with the Centre’s 50th anniversary celebrations. Please make sure to visit the JFC’s Archival Exhibition installed at Corner Commons which includes photographs honoring the 50 year history of the Jane/Finch Centre.

Art on My Mind 2026 x Jane/Finch Centre Community Archive Exhibit: 50 Years in Jane Finch You are invited to the official launch of the Jane/Finch Centre’s community archive exhibit followed by the Goldfarb Gallery’s Art on My Mind 2026 musical showcase on Wednesday July 29th from 4-8 pm. Performances start at 6 pm!
Taking place at Corner Commons, in the Yorkgate Mall parking lot, the showcase is the culmination of the Art on My Mind 2026: Live Performance Incubator. Facilitated by R&B singer, songwriter and educator Kibra, this incubator is a 2 month long artistic development program involving 4 emerging singers who received mentorship and live performance coaching ultimately preparing them to perform with a live band.
This celebratory event includes performances by headliners Kibra and Jayy Brown followed by performance incubator participants Yasmine Ariel, Jordi, RADA and Rith. Kibra and the emerging artists will be accompanied by band members Adriel Bennett, Daniel Espina, Rachel Smith and D’Andre Wilson.
The showcase will provide a platform to demonstrate the knowledge and skills that each emerging artist gained through this individualized musical development program. Art on My Mind 2026 is presented in conjunction with the Jane/Finch Centre’s 50th anniversary celebrations, marking five decades of community-led organizing, resident-driven programming and advocacy in Toronto’s Jane-Finch and Black Creek neighbourhoods.
“For 50 years the Jane/Finch Centre’s has been led by residents who have consistently shaped the direction of both the organization and the broader community” says Michelle Dagnino, Executive Director of the centre. “This milestone is not only about our history, but about celebrating a community that continues to build local solutions to complex challenges.”
