Leeward Glenway! 🍂⛪

On Sunday, October 11, we were pleased to attend Thanksgiving Sunday Mass at St. John XXIII Parish, celebrating the Feast Day of Pope St. John XXIII, the installation of Father Allan Lapay as Pastor, and the parish community’s preparations for its 50th anniversary, marked with a community potluck.

St. John XXIII Parish is an important neighbourhood partner and a place of faith, fellowship, and community for many of our Catholic residents.

The parish also has a unique history of ecumenical cooperation. Since 1975, the Catholic congregation and Gateway Community Church, a Presbyterian congregation, have shared a building for worship and community gatherings, with both communities maintaining their own traditions while sharing a common space.

Congratulations to Father Allan and the entire St. John XXIII Parish community on this special milestone. 🎉

Leeward Glenway! 🗳️

Thank you to the organizers, candidates, community organizations, and residents who participated in the Flemingdon Park All Candidates Forum on October 7, 2026, at Gateway Public School, ahead of the City of Toronto Municipal Elections.

Organized by the Flemingdon Thorncliffe Inter-Agency Network (FTIAN), the forum provided an opportunity for residents to hear from candidates, discuss local priorities, and engage in the democratic process.

We thank Sinan Erdemir and Gabriel “Didi” Moffat for attending as candidates for City Councillor in Ward 16. Incumbent Jon Burnside cancelled his attendance at the last minute, while Stacey Moffatt was also absent.

For Toronto District School Board (TDSB) Trustee, Ward 8, incumbent Farzana Rajwani was the only candidate in attendance. We acknowledge the other candidates in the race: Tracey Haddleton, Ibrahim Hatia, Spiros Kapoglis, Imran Khan, Dewitt Lee III, and Christine McGirr. TDSB Ward 8 encompasses Don Valley East and Don Valley West.

Wishing a blessed birthday to Prince Shah Rahim al-Hussaini, His Highness the Aga Khan V, the 50th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims.

As neighbours of the Ismaili Centre Toronto, the Aga Khan Park, plus numerous Jamaatkhanas, we are proud to share a community connected by a rich appreciation for Islamic art, Muslim heritage, cultural understanding, and pluralism.

While flagged by the BDS Coalition, the Aga Khan Museum is an important cultural partner in our wider North York community, helping foster dialogue and celebrate the contributions of Muslim civilizations. We will continue to encourage them to divest from institutions that foment ethnic cleansing in places like Sudan, Yemen, and Palestine.

May this Salgirah bring peace, happiness, and blessings to all who celebrate. ✨

Most of our adult residents who are registered to vote can cast their ballot at Dennis R. Timbrell Resource and Community Centre (29 St. Dennis Drive).

If you miss your chance, you can try again on election day — Monday, October 26, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 07:00 PM at the same location or alternatively at the
Broadlands Community Centre (19 Castlegrove Boulevard).

Thinking about casting your ballot during advance voting in Toronto’s 2026 municipal election?

Here’s what you should know:

👉Advance voting places are open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily until Sunday, October 11.

👉 You don’t need a voter information card to vote (but it makes the process faster).

👉You must show an election official one piece of acceptable ID with your name and qualifying Toronto address.

👉There are accessible voting options available for those who need assistance.

👉 Voters cannot take photos or videos of their marked ballot.
