Beautiful landscape piece by Bridget Brummel is part of “Points of Orientation” group exhibition.

“I often describe my work like memories, cloudy in nature, without all the sharp edges of reality. Bright colours are often used to demonstrate my enthusiasm for what is before my eyes. Texture and lines accompany colour to create movement, for although I attempt to stop time, time never does. This allows the clouds to almost float across the sky, the trees to rustle in the wind, or the river to flow. I attempt to place my audience in the place where I stood, watching the river flow and the clouds drift across the sky.”

Che Ree Kwon is a Toronto-based visual artist from South Korea. Grounded in memory and emotion, her painting practice translates fleeting impressions of overlooked urban corners, secluded parks, and quiet, overgrown natural spaces into layered acrylic and mixed media compositions on canvas.

Her work is characterized by bold, simplified natural forms, vivid color, textured surfaces, and a collage-like energy that balances organic and geometric elements. Through these layered compositions, Kwon explores complexity, playfulness, and the emotional resonance of everyday surroundings.

Lush, evocative artwork of Nadine Prada is inspired by her childhood in the Caribbean. She aims to take viewers on a sensorial journey through striking landscapes and exotic places, helping them feel more alive and attuned to their senses.

“This work reflects the umbilical pull of certain places, indelible memories overlaid with new impressions, creating layers of time and experiences. The feeling of lushness and abundance that rainforest foliage evokes. Sunlight on water. The kiss of fragrant tropical air on your skin. Places where the pace of life is slow, sensorial beauty is everywhere, encouraging moments of pause, even of transcendence. Exploring my personal and family history is a reclamation of my authentic self, one that I hope permits others to reflect upon and claim for themselves.”

Stunning piece by Bibiana Hooper from her newest ‘Liquid Light’ collection✨

“This body of work is an exploration of stillness; of the Okanagan as I feel it, not just as I see it. Soft horizons, minimal colour, and quiet space become a way of listening.

I’m drawn to the idea that everything is formed from something more fluid: light, awareness, presence slowly taking shape. These landscapes are not fixed places, but moments where that light settles, however briefly, into form. There is a calm here, but it isn’t empty. It moves. It breathes. It ripples beneath the surface.

I think of it as a kind of liquid light, something you can’t quite hold, but can feel. And maybe that same quiet source exists in all of us: unseen, but gently shaping how we experience the world.”

We are excited to announce the release of a new collection as part of the virtual exhibition “Points of Orientation.”

“Points of Orientation” explores how artists find their place in today’s world. This exhibition presents art not as an escape, but as a grounding force, an anchor, through which meaning, identity, and direction can be continually redefined. Bringing together a variety of practices and perspectivesfrom creatives based in North America and Europe, selected works create atmosphere, invite reflection, and encourage moments of pause. Art becomes both a personal and collective anchor, providing calm, clarity, or confrontation when most needed.

We took a little pause from posting and today we are getting back by sharing a beautiful painting by Loretta Kaltenhauser that was acquired by our local collector this week. 🔴

Loretta Kaltenhauser is an established, contemporary, award-winning Canadian artist who creates works that are either abstract or have landscape elements to them. Using various brushes and palette knives, Loretta layers, subtracts, and manipulates acrylic paint on canvas to synthesize an intricate and distinct tableau. Colours and shapes take on an energy of their own, and each subsequent layer of texture and colour she adds reinterprets her thoughts and emotions.

Some of Loretta Kaltenhauser‘s pieces are currently on view at Danish Pastry House (Shops at Don Mills location) until May 29th as part of the “Wild Ground” exhibition.

📍10 Aggie Hogg Gardens, North York, ON M3C 0G6

Rick Bogacz is a Canadian minimalist photographer drawn to the quiet tension between presence and absence. Each work is a deliberate act of reduction, an invitation to pause, breathe, and see more by looking at less.

“Still life for me is a journey to create some sense of tranquility and serenity through the quiet observation of the curves, tones and subtle colors of simple objects placed within negative space that contributes in an equal way to the composition and totality of the finished piece.”
