What a pleasure to have the students from Isle aux Morts and Port aux Basques spend afternoons with us earlier this week! The most popular attraction seemed to be the replica of the one-room school...one student even signed the guestbook in cursive!

Today we welcomed our first group of American tourists of summer 2026. We are open by apt for the month of June, and daily starting on Canada Day. Hope to see you!

This week the province said good by to well known musical icon, Mark Hiscock. He will be truly missed by those in the NL music scene.

Such a fitting tribute to our NL iconic accordion players!

Newfoundland’s music community is mourning the loss of one of its own—Mark Hiscock has passed away recently at the age of 53.
A gifted accordion player and vocalist, Mark was a founding member of the beloved folk band Shanneyganock and, after spending decades bringing traditional N.L. music to our province and beyond, he now joins our legendary accordion players in the Great Beyond.
Thinking of his family and loved ones, rest easy, Mark.

Thanks to all who visited during the tourist season. Your enthusiasm for the museum made for a very pleasant summer! Already looking forward to next year.

Model hay barrack built by Russell for the farming room in the museum in Tompkins. Hay barracks were commonly used in the Codroy Valley. There were many such structures in the area as late as the 1960s, including several on the White family farm.
