The 8th Hussars Museum hosted the annual flag raising today to honour the special connection the Hussars have with the Town of Eelde in the Netherlands. The event was well attended. The museum Vice-Chair, Brian Clancy, did an outstanding job explaining the importance of the tradition. We also had remarks from the Commanding Officer of the 8th Canadian Hussars Regiment, Lt.-Col. Colin Beazley, Mayor Marc Thorne and the Regimental Padre.

Private Fred Hayes from Kings Co, NB fought with the 26th Battalion during the First World War. Pictured here is his name as it is inscribed on the Vimy Memorial. Over 11,000 fallen Canadians, having no known place of burial in France, are honoured on this Memorial. On this, the anniversary date of the beginning of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, we remember all those we lost. Lest we Forget.
