On the way downtown - you've seen him. This immaculately kept International D40 is in front of the iconic brick building on Terminal Avenue in Vancouver. He's about the same year as our 1937 International D40 "Vanderspek". D series trucks were made between 1937 and 1940 a classic look. The building is formerly Canada Packers built in 1937 in a classic Moderne industrial streamline style. The area was formerly wetland, filled in and developed after the CNR built the viaduct in 1937. The building was a slaughterhouse and meat processing plant. Canada Packers formed in 1927 and existed until 1991. After the Terminal Avenue Canada Packers closed, it became a self storage location.

Trucks - in service to King (Queen) and Country. At the 55th annual Hyak Festival Parade in New Westminster held 23 May were several processions of mil'try vehicles. First were two International Navistar trucks operated by the Westminster Regiment. The Westminster Regiment originated in 1910. The Regiment gained Battle Honours in WW I most noteably in Vimy Ridge and Passchendele. in WW II in Italy and action during the liberation of Holland. The Regiment also served in Cyprus (1974) Afghanistan. The Regiment is active. Second in line was the 15th Artillery Regiment (Bessbourgh Vancouver). It was formed in 1920 and protected Vancouver and coast during WW II. The 15th RCA has provided service to the UN. The Regiment is an active duty reserve unit. The third procession was a parade of restored Canadian Army military vehicles dating back to Chevrolet C60L Military Pattern (CMP) vehicles used in WW II. They are distinctive with their ruggedness and reverse slope windshields. There was also a spectacular procession of military jeeps and other trucks. The procession was from the Western Command, the Canadian army military vehicle counterpart to your museum. They have been present at events at the Cloverdale Legion. Your Museum salutes the men and women and veterans of our Canadian Forces, and praises the Western Command in their efforts to restore the vehicles that served proudly within the Canadian Army. Not be outdone but there was a funky looking Austin A40 carrying Mr. Moose along the parade.
