What are you doing in the last week of summer?!

Age Dispatch caption: Taming The Wild Frisbee
It is the last week of freedom for school aged children before they must return to the rigors of the classroom. However, Brian Pacheco, eight, is making the best of the end of summer vacation with a game of frisbee. Below, Brian makes a face as though the approaching frisbee has rabies.

Thank you to our wonderful campers for bringing these larger-than-life paintings to life! 🎨✨

Our Jr. Artists created their own versions of Monet’s Water Lilies, while our Sr. Artists took inspiration from Van Gogh’s Starry Night. We absolutely love seeing their artwork brighten up the museum every day! ❤️

Don’t miss your chance to see these amazing creations—they’ll be on display until the end of the summer!

Happy World Photography day!!
World Photography Day is celebrated annually on August 19 to celebrate the art, craft, science, and history of photography. The day also encourages photographers from around the globe to share a single photo that encapsulates their world!

Today we are highlighting R.S. Williams who was a photographer in Strathroy from 1900-1905. His studio was located over Stepler's Pharmacy (now Bossons) at 35 Front Street W. After Williams closed his business the third story of the building was never occupied again. In 2011 contractors found over 3000 glass plate negatives still on the shelves left for over 100 years. After carefully removing the negatives and bringing them to the Museum, staff and volunteer spent 100s of hours cleaning and scanning them to preserve them for the community for years to come.
