Step down into history. These stairs in the tinsmithing shop lead to the basement where Harry Smith stored extra tools, hardware, and supplies that didn’t fit in the main shop. The original building was built in 1895 and expanded in 1902, with this section added in 1922. You can still see the shelves and drawers where nails, cans, and small parts were kept. The grooves worn into the steps are from years of Harry going up and down to fetch what he needed for his work.

Thank you all for a wonderful season at the Shubenacadie Tinsmith Museum!

This year we welcomed a record-breaking 837 guests (not including our tea party!) and we couldn’t be more grateful for our community and everyone who stopped by.

Some of the highlights included:
-Painting and refreshing the outdoor bridge and bench. Scroll to see the before and after!
-Hosting our beautiful Tea Party, made possible thanks to our wonderful sponsors
-Creating our 2026 calendar, featuring historic calendars from our collection

We’re also saying goodbye (for now) to our tour guides, Allie, Madison, and Taylor. They did a fantastic job this season, and we appreciate all their hard work.

From all of us at the museum – thank you again for supporting local history and helping us make this season such a success. 💛

See you next July!
