Nature is always just around the corner, and this photo of visitors to some bird's nests on Gull Rock shows it! We have to wonder if there are still as many nests in this place today . . . we count at least five in the photo. How many do you think there are?

Today's a funny day in Canada, because it's Victoria Day AND International Museum Day!

International Museum Day is all about highlighting the role museums play in our society. They're fantastic places to learn and experience new things. This year, the theme is "Museums Uniting a Divided World".

As a relatively new museum, we think that's a goal worth striving for. By providing a space for the Métis people to share their culture and heritage with the general public, we hope this will help to create an even better path forward.

We aren't open today (due to it being the aforementioned Victoria Day), but we will be open this week if you'd like to come in and visit our museum!

93% of Canadians agree that museums help them to understand other cultures and communities.

The Métis people have a strong community here in Sault Ste. Marie, and you're able to learn a little bit about who they are and their culture if you come by for a visit! So if you're curious about them, we're a great place to start.

Of course, we also have other excellent museums here in the Soo. Join us in celebrating May is Museum Month and share something new you learned at a museum below!
