80th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Netherlands.
Friendships bonded by struggle and determination. The struggle of the Dutch people to stay alive and the determination of Canadians to give whatever it was going to take to do what they could in the Allied efforts to liberate the Netherlands in WW II. The people of the Netherlands have given us a precious gift too; an overwhelming sense of a thank you that has lasted not just for the moment of liberation but for 80 years and a deep respect for what freedom and personal liberty really mean. Attached are links to articles about the experiences of two young men from St. Thomas, Ontario, Bill Copley who served with the Canadian army and his cousin Stan who served with the British on that Bridge Too Far.Friendships bonded by struggle and determination.
