I used to make hand-built plates. I suppose I still do, but infrequently, and for a long time that became Ryan's job. Roles shift. Ideas develop. Perspective changes. Now I prefer throwing plates on the wheel. I have always preferred wheel-work to hand-building. The wheel has a way of dialing in my thoughts and centering my focus. These plates are hand-dipped in white slip. Different accumulations of ash and soda influence the surface. My finger marks remain as shadows of intentional choice.

Life has been full of chaos and sweetness. There isn’t much space for screen time, which honestly is so liberating. I miss the connection to you and what feels like a responsibility to my duties as a business owner to be here and to be talking about what I am doing. But this year, I think, has to be about trust. I have to trust that you remember we are here and you will find us and visit us, whether it be a need or a want. And you will in return trust that my wheels remain in steady motion with my next fire always in sight. Less time on my phone ultimately means I enjoy life in the present. My mind is clear and my focus is sharper. That's the recipe for joy in living and creating. For me, it is.

So today, a brief note to tell you this and to remind you we are always thinking of you and we are always happy to see your car pull in.

I hope you are well and that your days are full of goodness.

Diner style cups.

Spring is tiptoeing in. I have gone for walks in the woods with Billie this week. It was just her and I and the birds—all around us an amphitheater of birdsong. Our turkeys and chickens have finally left the coop and are taking long meanders around the yard. I'm keeping myself busy with indoor projects, I find myself racing against the thawing temperatures, once the nice weather hits all indoor projects have to halt. Season to season the focus shifts.

I don't know what hours I am going to commit to as the weather warms but for now I am operating 10-4 Friday and Saturday. The shelves are overflowing with pots. We'd love to see you!

Shop is open! We are rolling out with new hours, a little earlier and a shorter week. We are open for business Friday and Saturday 10 - 4. Porch pick-up is available throughout the week 9 - 5. We are accepting online, DM and email sales on all current work. We ship worldwide.

A fine example of the surface drama produced by an atmospheric firing. There is no applied glaze to these bowls, they are stacked upside down in the kiln in close proximity to the firebox. The flame path, ash deposits and soda trails have the final say in the outcome. Firing an atmospheric kiln is an ongoing conversation between potter and kiln. It's a balance of control and surrender.
