Council Meeting Monday, September 15th, 2025
This isn’t just another meeting. It’s a decision that could permanently change the look, feel, and future of our waterfront, wharf, and town identity. The Town has moved the meeting upstairs to the dining hall so there’s space for more people, and that’s exactly what we need – a full room of neighbours and friends who care about the St. Andrews Wharf. Let’s make sure the room is full tonight – bring your friends and share this page!
🗓 Monday, Sept 15 | ⏰ 6:30 PM | 📍 WC O’Neill Arena – Dining Hall | or Online

Due to the high interest in tonight’s Council meeting, the meeting will be held in the dining room. Click here for a copy of the Agenda. Click here for the […]

Our wharf is a significant heritage structure with many important community functions. It is comparable to Hartland’s covered bridge. An expensive piece of infrastructure that has great importance to our community. We need the right approach to preserve and protect it.

The Town of St. Andrews needs to rebuild Market Square, the sea wall supporting the square and the first section of the Wharf (not replaced after the fire) The first picture show what is currently needing replacement.

There are three options being considered.
Second picture shows the option to rebuild using ironstone, a massive structure with an unknown environmental impact and not in keeping with the built heritage of St. Andrews, contrary to the municipal planning.

The third picture shows the proposed concrete structure which better resembles the present appearance of the wharf, and will have less impact on tidal flow along the shoreline. A third option is for a wooden structure, visually similar to what is currently in place, a structure similar to recent wharves built in Back Bay, NB and Lunenburg, NS.

Our Mayor and Council are trying to balance the costs, environmental impact, global warming considerations and the effect on the built heritage of this Town. They would appreciate your input by email to Paul Nopper for the attention of Mayor and Councillors [email protected]

Discussion is welcome, but letters to the Town have greater impact on the decision
