You might think Dessert Night and fruit picking is all that goes on at Seager Wheeler Farm. Well, our hard working volunteers and awesome summer students have been busy with all sorts of other activities -
• We developed a new website with the help of Jeff at Karr Video. In addition to the website, Jeff has assisted us in building a new self-guided tour of the Farm. You can still get a personal tour if you make arrangements, but initial feedback about the self-guided option is very positive.
• We’ve completed significant renovations recently, thanks to generous donations - new shingles were put on the Visitors’ Centre roof last Fall, and a new, more accessible cement walkway was installed this Spring.
• The Farm has been the site of several special events - weddings, and reunions. We’ve worked hard to make sure that the Farm yard looks good - although we’ve had lots of help from Mother Nature with all the rain. Our flower beds are bursting with color, and the greenery is lush.
• Work continues on building a digital archive of all of Seager Wheeler’s artifacts and documents. We continue to find pictures and letters and are working on ways to display them in the Visitor’s Centre, as well as digitally.
• We’ve had conversations and meetings with folks involved in the agriculture industry from across the prairies, who want to know more about Seager Wheeler and his farming practices.
• We’ve continued our partnership with Nine Mile Legacy Brewing and Maker’s Malt, and are proud of the second run of Isle of Wight Pale Ale that’s available once again. Part of this project includes a video about the project that is currently in production.
• Speaking of videos - Bamboo Shoots, a local video production company, was out recently to shoot a video for Sasktel Max, and it’s playing now. You can also find it on Youtube by searching Seager Wheeler Farm.
