LavendHER Diamond is a local Métis drag queen BIcon who loves to dance the house down, bedazzle anything in front of her and is a proud member of the Haus of Diamond. LavendHER has been dancing since she was just a tot and has had a fascination with drag since she was a young teen. She has now been taking YQR drag shows in by storm for about two years and enjoys incorporating fun colours and patterns, high energy dance moves, showgirl elements and goofy pop culture moments into her numbers. Lav strives to help people in her community feel seen and welcomed and is a great gal to have a laugh with. Grab your sunnies because you're going to need them looking at this shining Diamond!

"The idea behind these works was to step out of my comfort zone in terms of not only illustrating native species and animals or illustrating Blackfoot creation stories, but to explore other Blackfoot themes such as diving into the process that surrounds the complex geometric task of designing parfleches."

Mark your June calendars for the next exhibition opening at Dunlop Art Gallery (Sherwood Village Branch)! Bruce Anderson: Herd-Bound opens June 13 with an Opening Reception from 3:00 - 4:30 PM. Curated by Alexander Rondeau.

This Regina-based artist 's solo exhibition features large-scale oil paintings of familiar prairie landscapes. In his landscapes, Anderson includes horses to explore themes of displacement and loss using styles that make the horses feel out of place or disconnected within their environment. Horses have both accompanied and accelerated human migrations across continents through colonial and commercial trade. Anderson’s work invites us to look more closely at traditional, stereotypical Western scenes and to question what we think is natural.

Only 2 weeks left to see Casey Koyczan - raven: tatsǫ́ at Dunlop Art Gallery (Sherwood Village Branch)!

"In the centre, sculptures rise like sentinels. Some are sleek and minimal, others textured and tactile. A raven’s head emerges from a pristine white form, its feathers absorbing the light while the white surface reflects it back. Another piece coils into a loop — a raven head with a snake’s body, biting its own tail. The works are not static; they feel like they’re in mid-transformation, caught between worlds."

“Rather than having a grand installation with a bunch of feathers and raven body parts, it turned into five sculptures and I felt that was really meaningful”

See Casey Koyczan - raven: tatsǫ́ on now at Dunlop Art Gallery (Sherwood Village Branch) until May 27.

Using 3D modelling, fabrication, and organic materials such as branches and raven calls, he constructs mythic environments that feel alive and assertive. This exhibition features mixed-media sculptures and projected animations exploring themes of gossip, grief, blame, and transformation, balancing dark subject matter with subtle humour and playfulness.
