How did summer fly by so quickly?! We’re heading into September, and that means our hours of operation are changing soon.

☀️ One Last Summer Weekend!
Saturday, September 5 & Sunday, September 6 will be our last weekend open for the season.

🚫 Closed Monday, September 7 for Labour Day

Starting Tuesday, September 8, our hours will be:

🕙 Monday–Friday | 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
🚪 Closed Saturdays & Sundays

There’s still time to come visit, enjoy the beautiful grounds, explore the park, and soak up a little more summer before we settle into our fall schedule! 🍂

🎶🍂 A SPECIAL FALL CONCERT IS COMING! 🍂🎶

We are thrilled to announce that on October 4 at 2:00 p.m., the Chautauqua Stage at Kootenai Brown Historical Park will come alive with the incredible music of Connie Kaldor — 3-time Juno Award winner! 🎤✨

Connie is one of Canada’s most celebrated singer-songwriters, and we are so excited to welcome her to Pincher Creek for this special concert.

We are proud to be partnering with Heritage Acres Farm Museum to bring this fantastic afternoon of music to our community. ❤️

Luger and Madeline made their lives in Pincher Creek after losing their home at Batoche. You can see their photos and Ludgar’s tools in the Hudson’s Bay exhibit, and much of the furniture he made is around the Park. Their stone house still stands on Kettles Street, next to St. Michael’s Church.

Madeleline Gareau (Delorme) was born to Urbain Delorme and Marie Desmarais in 1867.

In 1884, Madeleine and Ludger Gareau were the very first couple to be married in the St. Antoine de Padoue Church at Batoche. Ludger was a contractor for many prominent buildings in Batoche, including the church itself.

This allowed the couple to build a vibrant two-storey home on a parish riverlot near the cemetery. However,t they did not stay there long as they left for a honeymoon in Quebec at the end of 1884. They were surprised and worried when they learned that the Northwest Resistance had erupted in the spring of 1885 and decided to remain in Quebec.

After the battle’s end, the couple moved back to Batoche and found their beautiful home in ruins and their community struggling. They stayed to help pick up the pieces. Ludger was hired to fix up some buildings and build coffins.

Shortly afterwards, they decided to relocate to Pincher Creek, AB.

Madeline passed in 1958.
