Currently on view: Duncan de Kergommeaux

A part of Ottawa’s Blue Barn Group exhibition, painter, educator, curator, and arts advocate Duncan de Kergommeaux (1927-2024) made a lasting contribution to the development of art in Canada. Born in northern British Columbia, his career spanned more than seven decades, participating in over 50 solo exhibitions and 100 group exhibitions. His work is held in numerous public and private collections, including the National Gallery of Canada.

“My art is about change, not about developing a signature style. I am a painter, not a picture maker!” - Duncan de Kergommeaux

Ariane Beauchamp | Rooted Memory

Working in ink and acrylic, Beauchamp brings together imaginary birds, vegetation, and places drawn from her own experience to consider the ways memory shapes our relationship to where we belong. Each piece in the body of work is built slowly, mark by mark. Nothing can be easily erased; each line remains and becomes part of what follows. The process mirrors the accumulation of memory, where past experiences remain present and continue to influence what comes next.

A truly magnificent and enticing display, on view now until September 26th.

Richard Ahnert | In Good Time

Through his distinctive anthropomorphic characters and carefully constructed narratives, Ahnert considers the spaces between one moment and the next: the waiting, wandering, playing, and observing that occupy our lives but rarely command our attention. Beneath the polite humour of these paintings is an appreciation for the pauses that give shape to our days—and for the possibility that time spent simply being may be time well spent.

An exhibition you certainly will not want to miss. On view now until September 26th.
