[working space] is a curatorial group created as part of the Fall 2017 Curating for Contemporary Art course at uOttawa.
[working space] est un groupe de conservation créé dans le cadre du cours Curating for Contemporary Art, automne 2017, à uOttawa. Starting with the theme of ‘engage’ and focusing on how the process of curating exposes the connections between theory and practice, art history and
visual art, [working space] concentrates on artworks and concepts that unfold and develop on their own through juxtaposition, participation, and the creation of knowledge. The notion that art and identity are always contextual, being influenced by their own histories as well as the world around them, speaks to the ways in which the perceptions of the artist, art historian, and viewer/participant intersect, coalesce, and sometimes diverge within the gallery space. Commençant avec le thème ‘engager’ et portant l’attention sur comment le processus de conservation expose les liens entre théorie et pratique, histoire de l’art et art visuel, [working space] se concentre sur des œuvres et des concepts qui se déroulent et se développent à travers la juxtaposition, la participation et la création de connaissances. La notion que l’art et l’identité sont toujours contextuels, influencés par leurs propres histoires ainsi que par le monde qui les entoure, témoigne des manières dont les perceptions de l’artiste, de l’historien de l’art et du spectateur/participant se croisent, s’unissent et parfois divergent dans l’espace de la galerie. L'exposition dure du 29 novembre 2017 au 7 décembre 2017 dans la Galerie 115. L’événement de clôture est le 6 décembre 2017.
