Uniacke Estate Museum Park has been the home to many farm animals throughout the years, sheep, horses, cows and a bull; as well as wild animals such as beavers, porcupine and of course geese. But did you know that the Estate was also home to "man's best friend"?

Throughout the museum you can find paintings, drawings, photographs and even silhouettes of various dogs. 🐕 🐶

Even though the names of these furry friends are unknown, it is clear that they were a special part of the Uniacke Estate.

Have you ever wondered what lies beyond the museum’s restricted sections, or what secrets, stories and possible spirits the house may hold after 200 years?

Come join us for a special sunset tour of the museum to uncover the secrets Uniacke Estate Museum Park holds.

Friday September 18th, 6pm-8pm

An afternoon lake view 😍

For this week’s we’re showcasing our set of Blue Willow dishes. A bone china service, these dishes depict a legend of two lovers, a noble daughter and commoner working as a secretary, who fall in love under a willow tree. After being prohibited from seeing each other, the two run away from her father’s home.

Her father sent his men to kill the couple, who found the former secretary working in the fields and killed him. Determined to be with her love, the daughter set the pavilion on fire, however the gods in taking pity for the couple, transformed them into a pair of immortal birds.

You can see the pair flying together above the willow tree in the china’s pattern.

Welcome back to another Monday! For this week’s theme of , we are showing off Lady Mary’s shell collection 🐚 🔍

On the second floor of the museum, guests are able to view the private corridors of the Uniacke family. The first room at the top of the stairs belonged to Richard’s eldest daughter, Lady Mary Mitchell. Mary earned the title of Lady upon marrying her husband, Sir Andrew Mitchell, who was stationed in Halifax while serving in His Majesty’s Navy. As these shells are not native to Nova Scotia, they may have been a gift from her husband while he was stationed in Bermuda, or from a friend who collected them while travelling in a warmer climate.

Sew...we took NO pictures at the Uniacke Estate Museum Park Artisan Market today. We were too busy flogging tartan. 😂 Holy moly, what a brilliant little show. I am still gobsmacked by how great it was and thank you to everyone who purchased from Hypatia's kidpreneur jewellery business.
If you are still jonesing for tartan we left a couple dozen Uniacke Museum branded Nova Scotia Tartan bookmarks at the museum tea room.
