The Friends of Crysler's Farm Battlefield Lawrence Seaway and the taming of the rapids between Morrisburg and Cornwall, caused it to be moved to its present site.

The Friends of Crysler's Farm Battlefield is a group of volunteers dedicated to preserving the memory of the stirring victory of Joseph Wanton Morrison's Anglo-Canadian army on November 11, 1813. Their primary purpose is the preservation and expansion of the Battlefield Memorial Building at the base of the mound, which is topped with the granite spire commemorating the events of November 11, 1813. The granite memorial was originally raised by the federal government in 1895 on the actual site of the battle but the flooding of much of South Dundas Township as a result of the construction of the St. It was re-dedicated in 1961 with the Battlefield Memorial Building, housing a magnificent mural of the peak action of the battle by Adam Sheriff Scott, was opened. In recent years government cutbacks have led to a reduction of staffing at the Memorial and it was actually closed for several years. It was re-opened, thanks to the Friends, in 1998, and staffed through the group's efforts in 1999. The Friends' goal is to keep the Memorial functional and to expand its displays and collection of artifacts.

The Friends of Crysler’s Farm Battlefield were happy to take part in the Glengarry Pioneer Museum’s Education day and Dunvegan 1812 Weekend both on and off the field! Our artillery crew fired a 6-pound cannon during the battle demonstrations, while other volunteers manned an information booth and spoke with school children and other visitors about the Battle of Crysler’s Farm. Many thanks to the Glengarry Pioneer Museum for a wonderful weekend!

Crysler's Farm Battlefield Memorial Park and our sister site, Fort Henry , are both proud members of the Highway of Heroes Military Museums, a network of museums and historic sites dedicated to preserving and sharing Canada's military history and honouring those who served.

Located just next door to Upper Canada Village, Crysler's Farm Battlefield marks the site of one of the most significant battles of the War of 1812. Visitors can explore the memorial grounds, interpretive exhibits, and scenic riverfront setting while learning about a pivotal moment in Canadian history.

Today, Upper Canada Village, part of the St. Lawrence Parks Commission, works alongside the volunteer group Friends of Crysler's Farm Battlefield to help preserve, commemorate, and share the history of this important site for future generations.

Make time to explore this important piece of Canada's military heritage during your next visit. 🇨🇦❤️
