Touring Upper Canada Village is a magical experience, transporting you back in time to the 1860s. A key part of the experience is the authentic buildings that make up the village, the activities that each housed, and of course, the people who lived there. Founded in 1961, Upper Canada Village is one of the largest living-history sites in Canada. Here, we endeavor to depict life in a rural English Canadian setting during the year 1866. Featured are over forty historical buildings, many moved here prior to flooding of the “Lost Villages” during the St. Lawrence Seaway development project. These include homes, functioning mills and trades workshops. En français:

Visiter Upper Canada Village est une expérience magique qui vous transporte à l’époque des années 1860. Au cœur de cette expérience se trouvent des bâtiments authentiques qui se dressent dans les rues du Village, les activités propres à chaque métier d’autrefois et, bien sûr, les habitants et habitantes à rencontrer chemin faisant. Fondé en 1961, Upper Canada Village est l’un des plus importants sites d’histoire vivante au Canada. Il propose une incursion dans la vie d’une communauté canadienne anglaise en milieu rural en 1866. Ses visiteurs ont la chance d’admirer une quarantaine de bâtiments historiques, dont beaucoup ont été déplacés sur le site avant l’inondation des « villages perdus » pendant le projet de développement de la Voie maritime du Saint-Laurent. Les portes de maisons, de moulins en activité et d’ateliers d’artisans leur sont grandes ouvertes!

This Thanksgiving, we're feeling incredibly grateful.

Thank you to our amazing staff who help bring PumpkInferno to life each season, from our talented pumpkin carvers, maintenance crews, events team, admissions staff, train operators, guest relations, marketing & communications, finance staff and so many others working behind the scenes to create a memorable experience for our guests. 🧡

We're also especially thankful for the local school children whose creativity shines brightly through the painted pumpkins featured in our Pumpkin Art Gallery.
