Cet article est paru le jour même de mon départ de Montréal. Jean Siag a eu la gentillesse de me laisser m’exprimer, et la sagesse d’en modérer le ton. Mes amis savent combien de choses demeurent non dites. Certaines d’entre elles sont liées aux déplorables politiques culturelles que l’on connaît, d’autres à la situation économique. Rien de tout cela ne favorise l’art ni la créativité des artistes, qui se trouvent, comme le disait un ami, au sommet d’une pyramide inversée.
Je ne saurais terminer sans mentionner l’inestimable complicité de mon éternelle alliée, Tania de la Cruz, sans qui tout cela serait impossible. Elle a été dans l’ombre,, malgrés moi, mais elle est le véritable moteur derrière cette mutation extraordinaire.
Bien des choses excitantes se préparent. Vous aurez bientôt de nos nouvelles !

This article was published the very day I left Montreal. Jean Siag was kind enough to let me speak, and wise enough to moderate the tone. My friends know how many things remain unsaid. Some of them are tied to the regrettable cultural policies we know too well, others to the economic situation. None of this helps art or the creativity of artists, who find themselves, as a friend once put it, at the top of an inverted pyramid.
I cannot finish without mentioning the invaluable complicity of my eternal ally, Tania de la Cruz, without whom none of this would be possible. Despite my will, she has remained in the shadows, but she is the true driving force behind this extraordinary transformation.
