Kayla Witt explores the search for purpose, fulfillment and self-actualization. Installed together at Arsenal Contemporary, her paintings echo one another, inviting visitors to move freely between them, as in a scavenger hunt, gathering clues along the way.

« Each painting is a part of a puzzle, or a clue in this grander search to find answers. »

NEW YORK: Arsenal Contemporary Art marks its 15th anniversary with a group exhibition drawn entirely from Collection Majudia, assembled by Montreal collectors Anne-Marie and Pierre Trahan.

Founded in Montreal in 2011, Arsenal opened its New York location in 2017 to present contemporary Canadian art within an international context. In recognition of this cross-border undertaking, the exhibition brings together works by artists based in the United States, acquired primarily through American galleries, international art fairs and auction houses.

Robin F. Williams explores representations of gender in art and popular culture. Her large-scale portraits depict otherworldly women, drawn from folklore and the supernatural, inhabiting fantastical settings while engaged in everyday activities. Through these staged compositions, Williams highlights the contradictory expectations that society places on women, who have historically served as both scapegoats and ideals of purity and moral superiority. Her work has been featured in solo exhibitions at PPOW Gallery (New York, USA), Perrotin (Tokyo, Japan), and the Columbus Museum of Art (Columbus, USA).

An artist working across sculpture, installation, and performance, Anna Uddenberg explores taste, social class, appropriation, and sexuality. Her practice examines power dynamics and mechanisms of control within a technologically driven consumer culture. She is interested in performativity and its amplification through social media. Using a code-laden virtual imagery she assembles, the artist creates material and sculptural forms. Her work examines the social norms produced by these systems, particularly representations of femininity. Her work has been featured in solo exhibitions at The Perimeter (London, UK), Meredith Rosen Gallery (New York, USA), and TANK Shanghai (Shanghai, China).
