Emma-Kate a rejoint Dazibao en 2018 au poste de coordonnatrice des expositions et des projets spéciaux. Dans ses fonctions, elle a contribué à de nombreux aspects des activités du centre, tout en y instaurant plusieurs initiatives. Travaillant en étroite collaboration avec les artistes à toutes les étapes de leur démarche, son approche privilégie l’écoute, la générosité, la communication et l’expérimentation. Sa connaissance appliquée de l’image en mouvement alimente ses échanges avec les artistes et l’exploration de potentiels formels et conceptuels. Cet investissement se traduit par une compréhension approfondie du mandat de Dazibao et de son rôle en constante évolution, depuis 1980, à Montréal, au Québec et à l’étranger.

Dazibao se réjouit à l’idée de s’unir avec sa communauté par ce nouveau cycle de programmation 𝘭𝘦́𝘨𝘦̀𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘳𝘦́𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦́.

Emma-Kate joined Dazibao in 2018 as exhibitions and special projects coordinator. In this position, she has been a contributor to, and initiator of, many aspects of Dazibao’s activities. Working closely with artists throughout the different stages of their process, her approach prioritizes attentiveness, generosity, communication, and experimentation. Informed by her applied experience with moving images, she is motivated by exchanges with artists that explore formal and conceptual potentials. This investment is reflected in a deepened understanding of Dazibao’s mandate and its evolving role since 1980 in Montreal, Quebec, and abroad.

Dazibao looks forward to connecting with its community through this new, 𝘴𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 programming cycle.

RÉSIDENCE INSTAGRAM RESIDENCY 2026

Du 20 juin au 20 aout, l’artiste Sasha Opeiko fera un takeover du compte Instagram de Dazibao, pour y développer et partager son projet 𝘕𝘶𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘙𝘰𝘵 𝘐𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘹!

𝘕𝘶𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘙𝘰𝘵 𝘐𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘹 est une observation sur la transition de la nourriture, qui passe de subsistance à preuve, puis d’image à déchet. En réponse à la médiatisation de l’alimentation sur les réseaux sociaux et d’autres interfaces, comme les applications de suivi nutritionnel, les repas sont numérisés, connectés, cuisinés, réfrigérés, photographiés, commentés, puis oubliés. L’alimentation est constamment en mouvement, passant de régimes à régimes qui s’affrontent sur le plan de l’appétit et de l’inventaire.

From June 20 to August 20, the artist Sasha Opeiko will do a takeover of Dazibao’s Instagram account, using the platform to develop and share her project 𝘕𝘶𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘙𝘰𝘵 𝘐𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘹!

𝘕𝘶𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘙𝘰𝘵 𝘐𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘹 observes how food transitions from nourishment to evidence, and from image to waste. Responding to food’s mediatization on social media and other interfaces, such as nutrition trackers, meals are scanned, logged, cooked, refrigerated, photographed, captioned and forgotten. Never truly stable, nutrition flows through competing regimes of appetite and inventory.

Snack Witch Joni presented a history of bubble tea from its appearance in the 1980s. This fun and comforting drink has had an explosive presence in pop culture, shapeshifting from place to place.
