Joe Sala is an Inuit sculptor from Sanikiluaq, a small community located on the north coast of Flaherty Island in Hudson Bay, within the Belcher Islands. Although geographically closer to the shores of Quebec and Ontario, the community is part of the Qikiqtaaluk Region. Sanikiluaq is known for its close relationship with the land and sea, where hunting, wildlife, and community life continue to shape daily life and artistic expression.
