Friends of the Miramichi History Museum We are located at 182 Wellington St., the former Chatham Masonic Hall. So, please join us in making this happen.

This site's purpose is to encourage all people of Miramichi to support us in our endeavour to build and support the Miramichi History Museum (formally the Miramichi Natural History Museum). From this page, we hope to gain volunteers, new members, and donations while posting important information, upcoming events and numerous stories on our impressive collection of Miramichi artefacts. We are open for the summer season! Please stop on by and enjoy our beautiful displays of Miramichi’s cultural, and natural, history.
Hours are 10:00AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Saturday. Admission is still only $3:00, children twelve and under free!

A truly unique, and important, artifact was recently donated to the Miramichi History Museum. It is a WWI era, portable recruitment office scale. Owned by a local family since shortly after the war, it had been repainted in the 1980s. This actual scale would have been used to weigh local recruits, all over Miramichi, during WWI. It could be packed up and brought to any local village or community. At the time, a recruit had to be over 125 pounds and at least five feet four inches!
