SAIL YACHT FRiDAYS
There’s been steady demand in the 45–50ft catamaran range—especially from buyers looking for something manageable without full-time crew.

The Fountaine Pajot Saona 47 sits right in that pocket.

Typical specs:
• 47 ft LOA / ~25 ft beam
• 4–5 cabin layouts
• Draft under 4 ft
• Designed for owner operation
• Ideal for Bahamas / Caribbean use

Current market range:
→ $850,000 – $1.4M USD

What’s driving interest here is usability.

These are boats that actually get used—weekends, extended cruising, and increasingly light charter.

The better-equipped ones tend to move quickly.

A conversation I’ve been having more often lately:

“Why hasn’t this yacht sold yet?”

Truthfully, there are some very good boats currently sitting on the market.

That surprises people.

But the yacht market globally has shifted over the last 18 months.

Buyers are still buying. Serious owners are still entering the market. But the speed of decision making has changed dramatically.

What I’m seeing right now:
• buyers taking longer to commit
• more detailed due diligence
• increased focus on operating costs
• stronger negotiation pressure
• more emphasis on condition and maintenance history
• buyers waiting for “perfect” opportunities

The boats moving fastest today are usually one of three things:

1️⃣ Properly priced
2️⃣ Turnkey and maintained correctly
3️⃣ Difficult to replace

What no longer works particularly well is overpricing average inventory based on pandemic-era expectations.

The reality is:
there are some excellent buying opportunities appearing right now for educated buyers paying attention.

Especially in the:
• 35–100 foot range
• late-model brokerage market
• Northern European pedigree builds
• proven charter platforms

I actually believe the next 12–24 months may create some of the best value opportunities we’ve seen in years for serious ownership buyers.

If you’re quietly exploring ownership, now is not a bad time to start conversations.

ISAIL YACHT Fridays - MAGINE
Well-built performance cruisers with strong pedigree tend to stay relevant.

IMAGINE (44.5m) is a good example.

• Alloy Yachts build
• Ed Dubois design
• Proven global cruising capability
• 2025 refit completed

This is a yacht built for owners who actually use their boats.

Not just seasonal cruising—true range and capability.

If you’re considering a sailing yacht in this size range, it’s worth looking at what’s currently available vs waiting for something specific.

There are a few strong options quietly on the market right now.

Running costs — what buyers usually underestimate

Purchase price is only part of the equation.

Running costs are what determine whether ownership actually works long-term.

A general guideline:
• ~10% annually

But more importantly:
• crew vs owner-operated
• usage level
• where the yacht is based
• age and complexity

Where I see issues is when this isn’t mapped out early.

The smoother ownership experiences are always the ones where expectations were set properly from the start.

I can walk you through typical costs based on size and usage.

MOTOR YACHT Mondays — SEVENTH SENSE

Custom Line’s Navetta range has always focused on volume, comfort, and range over speed.

SEVENTH SENSE (33m) reflects that clearly.

• 5 cabins accommodating up to 12 guests
• Full-beam VIP
• Recent class survey and mechanical work (2025)
• Proven charter history

This is a yacht designed for extended use rather than short stays.

That segment has been gaining more attention again, particularly among buyers prioritizing time onboard over transit speed.

Well-maintained Navettas tend to hold consistent market interest.

🔹 MOTOR YACHT MONDAYS |
CUSTOM LINE NAVETTA 38 — LA VETTA (2025)

New build without the wait—that’s where this one stands out.

LA VETTA (38.8m, 2025) is delivered and available now.

Key specs:
• 5 cabins / 10 guests
• 299 GT (important for operations)
• 2,800nm range
• Twin MAN engines
• Zero-speed stabilizers + Seakeeper

Asking: ~€19.5M

Most buyers in this segment are facing a 2–3 year build timeline.

That doesn’t always align with how people actually want to use a yacht.

Immediate availability changes that.

SAILYACHT FRIDAYS|
FOUNTAINE PAJOT SAONA 47 — OWNER-OPERATED CATAMARAN

There’s been steady demand in the 45–50ft catamaran range—especially from buyers looking for something manageable without full-time crew.

The Fountaine Pajot Saona 47 sits right in that pocket.

Typical specs: • 47 ft LOA / ~25 ft beam
• 4–5 cabin layouts
• Draft under 4 ft
• Designed for owner operation
• Strong Bahamas / Caribbean suitability
Current market range:
→ Approx. $850,000 – $1.4M USD depending on year and spec

What’s driving interest here is usability.
These are boats that actually get used: weekends, extended cruising, even light charter.

They’re also one of the more realistic entry points into multihull ownership without stepping into full superyacht territory.
There are usually a handful available globally at any given time—but the better ones don’t sit long.

If you’re considering a cat in this range, timing matters.

SAILING YACHT Fridays - FOUNTAINE PAJOT SAONA 47

There’s continued demand in the 45–50 ft catamaran range, particularly from buyers looking for a more practical entry into multihull ownership.

Models like the Fountaine Pajot Saona 47 sit right in that space.

Typical characteristics:
• 4–5 cabin layouts
• Wide beam with strong usable deck space
• Designed for owner operation or light crew
• Well suited to the Bahamas and Caribbean

What makes this segment relevant is usability.

These are boats that can be handled without a large crew, offer strong onboard living space, and are increasingly being used for both private cruising and light charter.

Availability tends to move fairly quickly when priced correctly.

If you’re considering a catamaran in this range, it’s worth watching what’s coming onto the market.

Feel free to reach out if you’d like a current shortlist.

A shift worth paying attention to

There’s been a gradual move toward more manageable yachts over the past few years.
Particularly in the 40–60 ft range.

We’re seeing: • quicker transactions
• higher usage rates
• fewer barriers to ownership

The reasons are fairly straightforward: lower complexity, lower operating costs, and more flexibility.

Larger yachts still have their place, but they’re not always the most practical starting point.
For many buyers entering the market, usability is taking priority over size.
It’s a trend that continues to build.
